SUMMARY:\"Le cheval nu\" (The Naked Horse)
DESCRIPTION:Elise will be in the gallery to greet visitors on Thursday
 s from 6:30 p.m. to closing and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
\n\nYou may have seen Elise Genest's very beautiful horse-inspired pai
ntings at the Royal Winter Fair. This show, titled \"Le cheval nu\" (T
he Naked Horse), reflects the artist's interpretation of well-recogniz
ed parallels between the supple, prancing, airy gracefulness of equine
exuberance and the beauty of the feminine form. Delicately sketched c
urves, equine gaits and motion in textured colours, and softness juxta
posed with strength are just a few phrases to describe her treatment o
f the subject. This group of magnificent creations is sure to leave ob
servers absolutely spellbound by their discovery of a unique, new arti
stic talent.\n\nSome 30 works varying in style and technique will be o
n display. They include drawings in gouache, acrylics on textured canv
as, and concrete sculptures, some life size. Explanatory notes accompa
ny most pieces.\n\nElise grew up in rural Quebec amidst a world of hor
ses. As a young artist they provided her with an inexhaustible source
of inspiration. In her early youth she traveled to the four corners of
the world and immersed herself in English, German and Spanish languag
e and culture. Through her parents, professional picture framers, she
also had an early introduction to many works of art which benefited fr
om their capable craftsmanship. Such masterpieces had a profound influ
ence on an open and sensitive soul. Elise ultimately plunged wholehear
tedly into the world of art and creativity herself.\nHours: Tuesday to
  Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (closed 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and Sa
 turdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.\nAdmission is free!\n\
