The video community for horse people everywhere

Last weekend i was showing in an equitation and a medal class. The courses felt the same and i rode them the same, yet i did way better in the medal than the equitation, and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what is different about a medal class than an equitation class.
Thanks!

I always thought they were simliar. Maybe the equitation is just bases on you, and the medal is has both you and the horse judged in it more. Or maybe there was simply other people who had a better round?

I know equitation is how you ride and medal classes ... im pretty sure are a bit of equitation and flat stuff like that :)

Medal and equitation classes are the same thing :) Maybe you rode one class better then the other? They are both judged on how you ride, so maybe you had a more secure seat in the medal then in the eq

In the Medal classes you should have more asked of you than in Equitation.

Extentions/counter canter/figures should all be of a higher standard than in a reg. Equitiation class.

O/F should be a more technical ride with several line options for the rider to consider.

The technical part of the riding comes into play more when judging the medal ...and the rider must still look great doing the required moves.
