Keeping your tack clean is important to insure that it will last a long time.

 

What do you do to keep your tack looking like new?

Also, toothpaste on all the silver with an old tooth brush and a good metal brush to fluff up fleece pads and the fleece under the western saddles. I vacuum the felt saddle pads and wash any blankets as necessary.
there are alot of oils and conditions in horseland that would help
I use on all saddles with the exception of synthetic in order, first if the tack is very nasty it gets a good rinse in warm water, glycerin soap applied with sponge, cloth or if there are nooks and crannies like with tooling a toothbrush, then a lite coat of lexol, now if the leather is really bad and needs lots of love it gets a coat of skidmore. My friend and I have a small leather repair shop and I am the cleaning lady LOL so I have seen some pretty bad tack and brought it back.
