Barnmice Equestrian Social Community

The video community for horse people everywhere

Hello everyone.
Can someone out there help me? I'm looking for a pony for my granddaughter. The perfect pony will be on the smaller side, any colour, any breed, boy or girl, and any age. It must also be very, very safe and healthy.
In return for light work teaching my granddaughter how to ride, it will receive lots of love and great care. I'm in the Aurora/Newmarket/Uxbridge area but will travel a reasonable distance if necessary.
Oh, I almost forgot...reasonably priced.
Thank you all for putting the word out. I'm sure there must be a sadly-outgrown pony out there somewhere just waiting for a new little girl to mother him or her.

The POA website is poac.org. They have a list of breeders and shows. I don't know much about the breed now or their prices, but I saw a classified for a brood-mare at $2500 US$. Considering the economy that price may be wishful thinking. These ponies are worth looking into, the one I ended up with had been neglected and ruined, and he always was sort of sour in attitude, but he never harmed my kids. And at 12.2 he was still strong enough to carry me (at 5'4", ca. 110 lbs back then) pretty easily, though I found his trot hard to ride as it was so rapid and short compared to my Anglo-Arab. If I had a grandchild and was looking for a pony I would definitely consider one, and I suspect that I would find what I was looking for within the POA breed over some of the more traditional ponies.
Thank you Jackie,
I'll check out the website.
I also found this site, equine.com which has a Horses for sale section. I saw several POA's available, some within you price range. At least you might get some leads.
Thanks Jackie,
I went to this site and e-mailed a few that look promising. Now we wait...
