Hi new to the group, my names Emily Im from Richmond, British Coloumbia. I full lease an 18hh Clydesdale Gelding with excellent breeding inc. Collessie. Hes a real stunner. I show him in Hunter and Pleasure he is 7 y/o and was just started this year ( he was bought this year as well ) I work at a Clydesdale barn and I love them, I love the height the temperment ( sometimes =p ) the looks and of course the amazing ride.
I am from Minden, Ontario. My girl is one and a half and I just bought her this past January (my first horse). I am doing Natural Horsemanship with her and I am planning on "breaking" her to ride when she gets a bit older even though I have already sat on her and ponied my sister in law around on her :) she is awesome with kids and I am planning on using her as a way to reach out to some of the rough kids in the area. Sounds like we are all connected to clydes in different ways they are such great animals!
That's good! I didn't ride them, except for just hopping on them in the field sometimes. Our didn't even pull anything - to be honest their main job in life was too look pretty! But they definitely did a good job of that!
I lease the Clydesdale in my photo, his name is Clyde...LOL
I started taking lessons at the stable where Clyde is about 3 years ago
2 years ago we noticed no one rode Clyde, so asked the owner if we (friend that I ride with) and I could start riding him. She said sure go ahead. So long story short he was gangly and underweight and trippy, did some research and thought he might have EPSM, so got permission to put him on a high fat (veg oil, phase V, and alfalfa pellet) high fiber diet.
The rest is history he muscled up had a much better attitude was not fatigued and is not stumbling anymore. He has a wonderful personality, just such a suck and tolerates anything we do to him. I just enjoy the Clydesdales as a breed and they can do alot more than pull things, I ride him in lessons and he can even jump! LOL
I'm from Rockwood..Guelph area, in Kemptville at school right now. We've had several Clydes over the years - for breeding and showing on the line. The boy in my picture was a yearling at the time that we had shown all year. We are out of the Clydes right now, partly because we lost that horse about two weeks after the picture was taken actually and my old man's health hasn't been great. We also had his dam and full sister, but sold them recently.
Just waiting for my dad to decide to get back into it!
How about you?
