With the worst winter in Ireland in 40 years, how is everyone coping with their horses with the snow and ice here at the moment? Everything's being cancelled and with little hope of getting any schooling done (unless you're lucky enough to have an indoor) and the roads treacherous to drive on, it's really just as well!

How bad is it around your yard? Any tips for coping with the freeze? And any snowy horse pictures?

Roll on summer...that's all we can say!

1. I CAN walk and poop at the same time. I can, I can, I can.
2. I will NOT stop and poop or urinate every time I pass the same spot in the arena.
3. I will NOT leave when my rider falls off.
4. My stable is NOT my litter box....
Does anyone know where best to donate horsey gear to equine charities in ireland to? I know they're finding things tough because of the recession and horses being abandoned and i have a few rugs i want to donate, but not sure where they'll be best used or needed. any suggestions?

As good hay is virtually impossible to come by now in Ireland, are you soaking hay or using haylage? I used to feed haylage but much prefer hay so that I can feed them pretty much as much as they want to eat. I've been using a hay steamer now for about 6 months and my COPD horse is now cough free! I think it's just the best thing ever... http://www.happyhorseproducts.ie

Anyone any advice on how to cope with a horse that's virtually unrideable in the wind? My young horse is a lovely, lovely horse and is super talented, but is a nightmare when it's windy! It's got to a stage where I just lunge her when it's windy, but that's not going to help me at shows in wet, windy Ireland...

So, if you had a choice, would you go Irish or warmblood? I'd go Irish over warmblood any day...except possibly for pure dressage! Irish bred horses have the blood, the brains and that crucial survival instinct. We're at the top of the eventer rankings once again, but are seriously struggling in the show jumping world rankings. Can this be reversed?

We get reports every day regarding the plight of thousands of horses in Ireland that are being neglected or have been abandoned because their owners cannot afford to keep them anymore. The rescue and welfare organisations are stretched to breaking point. Is the government doing enough? What should average horse owners do, is there anything we can do? I'd love to do more and do regularly give to such charities, but feel unable to get involved in anything more than donations because such neglect…
