Paris was a maiden and this filly was much larger than we expected. She was very tight and has bruising and tearing from the delivery. Everything was in position, just a really tight fit and then Paris decided she wanted to be in our lap. I am grateful that all went well.

I felt so bad for Paris - she was having such a hard time!  Bless her!  You ladies are great!  I was wondering if you ever tried having extra help to bring her back legs up.  I am a L&D RN and we call it the "McRoberts" and is used for shoulder dystocia.  I was called to a neighbors to help her mare out who was having difficulty delivering her 3rd foal (due to a contracted pelvis).  The vet was on another call and was delayed.  When I got there she had been working hard for a while and was too exhausted to push.  I had one person at each hind leg bring her legs up to her chest as best they could.  I reached in and could feel the shoulder stuck on the pelvic bone.  I was able to rotate the shoulder and deliver the foal with next push.  The mare and the foal did great.

Poor Paris had a time.  The filly is very large and being a maiden she was very tight.  She has tearing and bruising, but she's being an exceptional mom!  So happy.  Beautiful filly, healthy mom - and a few months break.  All is right with the world.

That filly is even more gorgeous now that she's dry and spunky too. Interestingly you can tell she was overdue. Her tail is longer again just like the other latecomers.Have a great day all!

Well Done! Shannon and Heather. Great job Paris. You must be feeling so much better now...and a lot lighter. Good health and long life to you both.
