This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Dayle has been kind enough to allow us to peek into her barn this foaling season since I have no babies arriving at my farm this year. Here is her lineup... 1) HHAA Bumbles - Due January ??, 2014 (separated from jack Feb. 24th, 2013)2)…Continue

Our are ultrasounded rectally. Some vets won't do it, but ours has an extension on her probe. and does an exceptional job. He is a doll and so friendly :)
Are minis ultrasounded the same way as larger horses, rectally? They just seem so small and some vets have rather large arms!
OMG, he's SO adorable! I don't know how you can leave the stall at all, he just screams "Pet me all day long!" It warms my soul just to be able to watch him on video, thank you.
Happy Valentine's Day to you as well Heather!
Can't wait to see this little one in color. lol
I always catch him sleeping or eating, never playing. I must not come at the right time to watch.
Little man is a total copy cat, he is eating the straw and hay (or mimicking). Intelligence, but minis are very intelligent. Tiny athlete he is.
Wow...questions questions. LOL Happy Valentine's day by the way.
Tracy - No spots. she did the same last year out of the same stallion, but NO white whatsoever. He has socks on the back and we think on the front as well. Then the blaze...but that's it. It's unusual for Dream (sire) to not stamp them with his butt markings. LOL
Stephanie - we will do photos soon. We like them to unfold a bit first. Hopefully this weekend.
Kel - we purchased the equipment for our vet to do AI and I'm considering Embryo Transfer on my most prized mare, Affair, but right now we only do live cover. Normally we hand breed, but we occassionally pasture breed. We tease the mares regularly and try to monitor all breedings. I hate not having dates.
He is the friendliest little thing. When I put the shavings in this morning his mom promptly laid down and rolled in them. He jumped over her once and tried again - I was so grateful that he stopped because she was getting up and that would have been bad. He watched her and decided to mimic her. He laid down and rolled and rolled and rolled. I was beginning to wonder if he was going to stop.
He seems to enjoy having no blanket. We will likely put them back on tonight but we are trying to acclimate him to the colder temps.
He is a joy!
"Thank God, he's down for a nap. I can get some peace."
Mothers are same in every species, eh?
great color on the little guy, good face, nice legs and tail set. does he have and pinto/paint spots? I know usually foals follow their mothers color but I can't see any white spot on rump or shoulder.
Run, run , run, and don't forget roll, roll, roll o-ver and o-ver and o-ver.. then back for a snack...whant an agenda..
Annie
Are we going to see pictures of this little one?
