So Cindy, you are in BC?? I was there about 5 weeks ago! Went to visit old friends in Kelowna on our way to visit elderly parents in BC. If only I'd known!!

Hey everyone!! Regarding my health issues previously discussed thinking of tumor (no cancer) and hip replacement surgery on my left hip ( waiting for a date). At any rate spirits are up haven't ridden since October, am on Naproxin 375ml 3 times a day (I still feel the pain somewhat but not as intense, good thing I guess cause I would most likely wreck myself bad if I couldn't feel any pain).  We have snow now and getting around is a little tricky for me and the season is still early.  Had a rockin' earthquake go through our area a couple of weeks ago, felt like we were on a ship on the ocean, didn't go outside to see how the horses dealt with it, but all was well no damage or injuries from Haida Gwai to Alberta and North/South of us, no Tsunami either, truly a miracle I think :-)  Vicky good to hear you are up and about again, best wishes to you.

Yes Jackie! I certainly love riding my horses that I bred, started and trained. The youngest one isn't quite finished yet, ha, but getting there, if a bit slower than his sister. Both affectionate and for me totally trust worthy. I dont' think Id put just anyone on the youngest just yet, but my daughters and I ride them both pretty much where ever we like with no issues.

The Standardbred Horse Fan Club submitted an idea for a Canada Retirement Foundation for Thoroughbred and Standardbred race horses to the Aviva Fund. The idea was accepted two days ago and we are now scrambling to try to raise votes by Monday (end of the second round of votes). If anyone can help with a vote, we will succeed and may be eligible for a grant for the Foundation for $50,000 to $100,000 - a good start for sure. Please assist us - our race horses deserve better than what they receive after their racing efforts http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf16017

Yes, it is so good to get back to riding!

And isn't it nice that you have some nice horses to ride.

Hi All! Long time no chat! I have been sick- again, and recovering. Now reasonably well and back riding my lovely babies!

Today I ran into a new product on another site, the Rstor (see it at http://www.rstor.co.uk.home) that can help a rider stay in the saddle through spooks, bucks, etc..  I can't use the grab straps, by the time my hand gets that far down I am definitely in trouble, the beauty of this system is that you can hold it in just one hand all the time without interfering with holding/using the reins.  Since my balance is soooo bad and my body so weak I have been staying in the riding ring and getting BORED, but I KNOW my seat is not secure enough for unplanned spooks!

I am mentioning it to you all because I figure there may be more people like me, elderly, frail, and uncertain.  What do you all think of this?  Do you think it might be a good idea?  I know the ideal is an independent seat, and I agree, but this is for those sudden emergencies when the horse acts up, for us that do not have a super secure seat.
