Does anyone own a rescue horse ???

I have a few rescues.
First one we adopted from a local rescue. She's a 22yr old thoroughbred. She was very thin, but we now have her at an amazing weight, She looks awesome for a 22yr old. She's a wonderful horse for riding and just to be around.
Second rescue was my little mini, Oreo. He was abused for years, so when I got him he had no trust for people. He was so afraid of everyone. It didn't take me long to get through to him. It took alot of hard work, patience, few bruises(he would rear and strike) but we did it and now today, over a year later he is amazing. Trusts people, absolutely adores me, and he's just a happy wonderful horse now. I'm so glad I gave him a chance, I saved him from being put down because he was 'dangerous', I was not going to let anyone put down a 5 year old. That was just not fair and I knew I could get him to trust again.

I've also had a few from feedlots, One who was beat with a 2X4. They have been rehomed though.
I will never get rid of Oreo and our throroughbred.

AWWWW poor Oreo. I hate it when people treat horses like that and say they are 'dangerous' they don't even let them have a try. I am really glad to hear that he now trusts people you have done an amazing job :) Some rescue stories that I have read where alot about Thoroghbreds. Because people in that industry just want to make a fast horse some don't really think what is actually good for the horse all they see is a fast horse or a slow horse. I know some people aren't like that but breeders and trainers just want fast horses. It is really sad that if the horse isn't good enough they don't really look after it as good as the others.
