Hey Eileen. I rode this morning for an hour and the horse is the only one getting any exercise as it is all hills at Pleasure Valley. It has been too wet for trotting or cantering so I am at winter weight ie yuck and he needed to lose 100lbs and has done that. What a good boy! Out with just a rope hackamore and no bit with his windchimes on the side. Beautiful to see! Gotta love him Gail.

No I don't know the name Convery nor do I know what PV is. I did ride in the Vivian Forest this past July. That was the weekend that it poured rain most of the time.

Yes! She does trail ride gaited horses like me. That is how I met her 9 years ago. She lives in Newmarket and boards on the Vivian Forest while I am at Pleasure Valley fairly close to the Durham Forest. Did you ever hear the name Gary Convery.. He owned PV until he died three years ago at the age of 62. He was a legend with the mutual respect and trust with horses and was one of the first to find the gaited horses and bring them into Ontario. Gail.

What a coincidence not only with two of us working for Bell but retiring so young. Does this other lady trail ride? Is she from the Toronto area as well? Just curious lol

That is freaking amazing. I know another woman who rides and worked for Bell and retired at 50. I love this over 60's group! Gail.

I worked for Bell Canada for 31 years, in just about every dept there. I retired when I was 49, and never regretted that decision. When I was working I planned the vacations around the long hauls to to good trail riding. Extra days off were also valuable assets that were used on the weekend for the nearby rides. Luckily I was very young when I retired so was able to take on the journies that I did...one year it was taking two horses to Alaska and spend the whole summer up there on a ranch just below the Yukon River...what an experience. The following year I took thte same two horses and worked for an outfitter in southern B.C. It just don't get any better than that.

Don't you hate it when working gets in the way of your riding? Eileen, What did you do for a living before you were able to retire and haul hay? Gail.

Not sure what the temps will be today, missed the forecast, It is overcast right now and I am hoping that it will not rain as I have to go get that wagon load of hay.
No I have acually been tied up with other things here this week. I am thinking that Hullet Marsh is the best choice here if I will be bringing two horses just for the afternoon. That is in the Clinton area, about 2 1/2 hour drive for me. Not sure when, I really don't like the thought of riding there in the heat as a lot of it is out in the open. but it is something to think about. The only other option is if we try to get together on my way to a two week ride with just one horse, then I don't know where the best place would be to ride.

No fires near our guys. How hot is it where you are? It is going to be 29 this weekend and I will be riding early am or not at all. Have you gotton any further in your trail riding plans? Hard to believe September is 2 weeks away. Gail.
