Hi kelli! I used to have an Arab. She came with a sad story of abuse, little trust in humans( which I helped her change), and no records of parents. She had a high spirit that never ceased to amaze me. She was so beautiful! I miss her so much!!
Hi Group,
I was pleased to see this group on Barnmice. I have owned only Arabs / part-Arabs. My current horse is Gideon, 19 y.o. 3/4 Arab gelding. The one thing I know for sure about Arabs is that they need far more human contact than any other breed, and that they get better and better the more human companionship they get. This is a breed that developed while living IN the tents of Bedouins in the Arabian countries, and while it's true that they need other horses around, they need to be close to people who understand Arabs in order to become fully confident as horses.
Unfortunately many horse people do not understand Arabian psychology, so these magnificent horses are labelled "stupid" and are believed to be untrustworthy. In fact, they are highly intelligent and have a strong sense of self-preservation which was valued by the Bedouin, because the horse would save its rider in saving itself.
"Stupid'? I could tell you stories! Gideon is so smart I have to keep one step ahead of him in the training, or he's leading ME around by the nose! But once he's obeying, he's absolutely predictable, and has spirit and fire as well. Gotta love those Arabs!
got my video uploaded.....didn't do anything different, it just seemed to suddenly work for me!
The video is about my little mare "TP Last Tango" and myself, so if you would like to see pictures of us, have a boo.
I have had Tango for 14 months. She is the first horse I have owned since I was a kid. She is a 14 year old registered 3/4 Arab - with some QH/Saddlebred mixed in. She's a real tryer and has a very sweet personality. If you would like to know more about who we are, where we live, ect. this is our website
This is my third Arab that has been in my life over the last 6 years. Two I leased at the barns I was riding at. Then we bought Tango last summer. She has been such a joy and is truly a member of our family! And I agree....the more time you spend with an Arab, the better it gets ...... for the horse and for me!
I hope this discussion group will keep growing and that we can all share more about our horses, ourselves, training and tack tips, etc.. Have a great day everyone!
Hello all...I have an Arabian Sport Horse Stallion, Alada Clairion, (grandson of Alada Baskin) and sadly lost my beautiful mare Jan08, who was a Huckleberry Bey granddaughter.....both special personalities, and have won over non-arabian hearts many times!! lol
www.aladaclairion.com
i am lucky enough to have my very own arabian cross...
jack is my 3/4 arabian gelding, just four years he had his first show season and it was amazing to see him out there!
he is a real personality, and i love him to pieces, he is sligtly spoiled yes though he deserves it...
jack is out of gold krugerand and is my hunter pleasure horse, anyways
keep loving your arabsss <333
Hi group! I have a 12 year old arab mare named Amira whom I just love to death. We compete in competitive trail and endurance riding and just love to mosey down the trail.
While arabs are my first love, I also have a TB mare but it's my arab who owns my heart...and she KNOWS IT!!!
we have 3 purebred arabs (a 3 and 4 year old filly and a 3 year old stud colt) and a 3 year old partbred filly. I have a T-bred mare who will be bred to a beautiful black arab stallion this year (please see Windstar Destiny at polarpintabians.com). I train and show arabs in halter and sport horse, in hand and under saddle with much success. Arabs are so natural in dressage!!! I also have some warmbloods that I compete with on the open circuit. My crowning highlight was training an old anglo arab gelding to Intermediare level dressage! He was a natural!
I was born and bred on the Arabian circuit in Ontario, Canada. My mom was first introduced to them as a teenager and worked with Chris Wade (*Ranix before he went to Bazy Tankersley/Al Marah) and Stewart Bennet (Scottsdale Farm/ importer of many horses of the *Indian prefex and the *Rissalix line).
Since then we have always had Purebred and Partbred Arabians. Currently we only have 1 Purebred (27 year old stallion Kintyre El Mateus) and 6 Partbreds.
We found that breeding Partbreds was more successful for us as we didn't have the money to get fabulous mares and then afford the stud fees to the best stallions. We've had Welsh crosses, National Show Horses, Hackney Horse crosses and coming back full circle to the Welsh cross in breeding Sport Ponies.
We have participated in almost every discipline in mainring and open circuit. Right now we are competing in Competitive Trail and Endurance as well as promoting the Sport Ponies.
Our farm is currently home to 2 Half-Arabian National Champions, 5 National Top Tens and have bred a 3 time Reserve National Champion (and 7 Top Tens). We are just a small mom-and-daughter operation that have strived to do the best with our horses.
I just bought a really amazing Arabian Saddlebred Cross, he is a wonderful jumper and has done almost every level of pony club, He is turning 13 in April and I have only owned him for just over a month and already I love him to death and could never part with him!! I have loved arabians my whole life so owning even a cross is like a dream come true.
Hi, I have 2 unregistered Polish Arabian Mares. They are both Gorgeous. Francy is my main saddle horse and one of the most gorgeous horses I own. Crystal is my young mare that is still in training and she is expecting this summer from a Nevada Mustang Stallion that we own. Arabians are one of my most favorite breeds. I am going to attempt to make native arabian costumes for them in the next few weeks as they are supposed to carry my groom and I down the isle for our wedding.
Hi -I am Cassandra and of all the horses I have ever owned and ridden I love Arabs the best-Tom is 23 now and a son of Middlemarch out of an Abu Farwa granddaughter-bombproof, responsible and a genius at escaping from his stall- I also have a 16 (or thereabouts) year old gelding I call Rocketman and would love to know if anyone recognizes him- her came to me with a lot of issues to do with tacking up- I figure whoever had him tossed the saddle on, girthed him up tight and galloped off while hangin onto his face- he had a dislocated lowere mandibl bareback with a halter he is as close to a perfect ride as you could get- anyways he is 15h, liver chestnut with a little blaze , a sock in front and a stocking right hind, the clubbiest front feet you could ever imagine, but quite a bit of bone for a horse with a meddium frame-really typey head and neck-sound familiar to anybody- no one could ever forget these front feet! I got hime out by Simcoe with no papers as a rescue, but would love to know his background/breeding, if anyone can help...
i own a 12 year old anglo arab mare. she is chestnut with a star strip snip. she is 15.1hh. i have had her since christmas 2008. Before i got her she had been aloud to get a way with everything. but now i have brought her back under saddle and she is an amazing ride.
I must say that I am so very excited to be a part of this group. I have a Polish Arab that I bought 17 years ago. He was a reiner off the circuit and came to me with many issues, and an abundant amount of talent.
He will be celebrating his 25th Birthday this Tuesday April 28th.
I am in awe of the Bask bloodlines; their beauty and elegance and intelligence.
Russek is a large part of my new book; On the Right lead. The horse on the cover is a look alike arab because my guy does not gallop anymore.
I am excited about this group. I have had arabians for the last 30 years of my life, but am new to the sport of Dressage.(a student of dressage for the past 6 years). I love the discipline, now the art of dressage will be when I feel successful in the ring with my arabs. Certainly looking forward to the journey that lies ahead!!!
hello im just new to this site and so far im loving it, and im very gald to see that there are many more people who love arabs aswell... i own a 13 year old straight egypitian arab, and i love him to death. many people who see him say he acts more like a quater horse hes so quite..althought that took a while to get him like that..still love him.. thanks for spending time to read
I definitely belong in the group...I LOVE my Arabs. My main horse is an 11yo chestnut gelding. We tried competitive trail riding last year and my Hero really excelled. Can't wait for next years season!
Hi Everyone, I'm a professional Dressage Trainer and I've been using Arabs in my lesson programs and been competing on Arabs since I was a kid. They're an amazing breed that gets such a bad rap.
I have my own facility in Dallas Tx,where I teach and train and also have developed an online, real time lesson program.
Hey Renee, so glad to see you're on here!
Colette! So glad you joined!!!!! Love, love, love!!!!! your lesson program. Found it to work especially well for Arabians! Colette, I am ready to journey through level ! and soon II ! I have heard from many Arabian friends that they really begin to shine beyond training level..... Anything coming in the foreseeable future? :0)
Hi Renee! Probably this fall when the tests change, I'll go back in to studio and record some more.
Mary, nice to meet a fellow Arab instructor....aren't they just awesome with the kids? They are so interactive.
Hi Colette, How great to see someone I respect and admire as part of this group. I, too, am located in the Dallas area but am in the Eastern area halfway between Dallas and Tyler. I, too, love the Arab. They have great brains and the biggest hearts. You do have to give them a little bit more time to mature, in my opinion. I think by the time they are around 6 to 7 they have settled and are really ready to get to work and stop being silly. I am in the process of starting my breeding program of half Arab sport horses. I have an Oldenburg stallion, and after a 2-year search for the right mare found a Chemosabe granddaughter who is expecting any day now. I am so excited! My stallion is the son of Weltstern and an old style warmblood. The mare is nice and big without too refined of a head. I will post pictures as soon as it is born. I could go on and on about all the wonderful attributes of the Arab, but you guys already know :)
Debbie, Wow, hello Sister horsemen.Didn't know about your breeding program! I have a Chemosabe grandson gelding I found for a client a couple years ago. What a fabulous bloodline. Please keep us posted on here with your new arrival. Couldn't think of a more responsible breeder. Congrats!
Hi to everyone. I'm new to Barn Mice but not new to Arabians. I've bred, train, shown and raced Arabians for over 50 years. I'll be checking in to see what is happening.
Debbie - You mentioned that after a two year search you found a "Chemosabe" granddaughter who is expecting any day now.... Do you mean a "Khemosabi++++//" granddaughter?
Hello everyone, just joined BM a couple days ago and spotted this page. Ahh, Arabs, so unique. I have an 18yr gld, light of my life! Which brings me to a request. I would like to find out a little about him and as he has a lip tat, I am hoping someone is a member of the Arab Assoc. and can track it down for me. Silly to join for one horse. Anyway, I also clicker coach, anyone else? :)
