My season is going well so far. We have placed at a few shows but haven't gone for the last month due to her rushing the jumps. We have been working a lot at home on single jumps and she is getting much better. I honestly think the problem with her is that she anticipates the jumps too much (and she's too smart for her own good!!!) We have been switching things around alot lately....doing roll backs, only doing the first jump in a line and then halting, trotting some jumps and cantering others, and this seems to help a lot. As soon as I start doing a hunter course and she knows that we are going towards a certain jump she gets quick. My coach told me that a lot of it is because I tense up so I've been working really hard at talking to her all the way up to the jump and this seems to relax her a bit too! I think I need to keep telling myself she's only six and not expect so much from her!!!!!! I dont' think its the height of the fences with her because she rushes little cavelettis too!!!!
What do you do with your horses?
