E.F.A. Level 1 Coach since 1992, riding showjumpers and eventers since the 70's, that make's me sound old. I was born in 1962. I coach full time on our property in the Inman Valley , South Australia. Also coach at pony clubs around the state and the Nation. I have 6 school horses of varied age and height. My Wife and two kids ride as well, the kids ride showjumpers and Pony Hacks . I retired from Eventing a couple of years ago and just showjump now. Currently I have a 120cm horse and one just starting 95cm classes. Looking to ride 130cm class over the next year. As Im up-grading from level 1 to level 2 accreditation
Hi Geoff, just to let you know that im over my fear of riding Xanna now thanks to all your fantastic teaching and guidance. Amber and I rode at the beach on Friday and it was a buzz. Thanks again for all your help. I feel free of the fear now its all gone. What a genuine relief im free.
Oh yes I agree. Although it is not difficult to work here as a "coach" with absolutely no qualifications at all. It is such a costly venture to attain the certificate I can understand why many people skip it. It is a shame, because there are so many talented people that have much to offer, but don't get the support of the governing body because they don't have the dough to put into it. I only went ahead with the certification process because of legal issues and insurance. I do think it pays off in the long run, but dang that upfront expendature is far out!
Are you guys all broiled like steaks in this weather? Just got back from having 2 ponies shod...I nearly collapsed walking them back to the paddock. SO hot.
At 1pm, my car temp thingy said 49 in the sun. Hate to think what you are getting. Hope you have cool water and ice on hand.
Hi Geoffrey, I have been following Rebecca Franklin's posts here about everything that's going on in Australia with the heat and the fire risks. What's doing in your neck of the woods?
Haha,
Drop and give me 20! Or else i will get mum onto you with her jockey whip! haha
Well that sounds like fun!
Nah fair enough, i hate riding in hot whether! You can only really do light work when its hot anyway.
I hate not being able to ride Meco. Its just not the same riding the little ponies. (thought they do need work... mum) :D
I have just got myself a new dressage saddle last thursday (New 2nd hand, in really good nick, paid $1200 all together for it), i got a new jumping saddle for christmas and my horse goes and gets a nail up his foot, has me all hopeful while he is looking better then gets it infected again (its become almost like an absus (sp?))
I have the state dressage champs soon too... oh well we have paid entry fees (some $150 odd) so we might as well go along for the ride(s). Even if his topline (which i/we were just starting to get looking nice) is almost completely non-exsistant! But I think we're only doing prelim/novice, thank goodness! lol
Steph
Hey Geoffrey,
I have been following Rebecca Franklin's "Ash Wednesday" forum updates every few hours. You have a lot of people from all over the world worried sick about the fires, the people, the animals. It is a main topic of discussion in our Canadian barn.
As my non-horsey husband pointed out, this is when you really know you are part of a community.
I hope this is quick to pass.
Yes, we're ok...The closest towns/suburbs to the north of where our boys are were on high alert/ember attack but we were completely missed, thank goodness. We do know people who have lost their house etc and it's been a pretty harrowing week...Now it's just extremely smoky - very unpleasant.
Sorry to hear about Sadie, very sad for you, Kate and the kids - hopefully this is the end of your bad run. Are she and Dusty resting together? Is everyone else ok? Give the kids a hug from me.
Hi Geoff how was it at the X country training with Itchy, i just read your post to William about Mechanical riding, can you please elaborate on Mechanical riding so i can have an understanding of it, im just not sure what you mean What is Mechanical Riding? Did Itchy like his float boots? did he do some ballet when you first put them on. lol
cheers Rachel
hey! how are you all?
blaze is going really well, but we're going to move his down the road a little further to trott park next weekend if all goes to plan.

P.S. so yeah ill give you a ring to book a lesson once he settles into trott park nicely (:

ummm the new place is on lonsdale highway, and the lady has just put 3 new arenas in, and there's trails there and i can even get to the BIG area out the back of sandras anyway! bonus!

Some *cough* action shots *cough* *giggle* are up now Geoff...please tell me I looked better this time around, or I think I will have to shoot myself :D
You need to put up some pics of all the new additions I think....what's this I hear about a pally? (I had a look at Lauren's page - sorry to hear about Lucy too, and how good is Flip looking!?)
Hi Geoff, great to hear from you
Sorry I've been so slack about getting onto Barnmice! I'm at a new school over here and the workload is ridiculous- I wish I'd stayed in Aus! Sorry to hear about Sadie and Lucy- did you have to be there when the vet put them down? That would've been really sad. Seems like lots of exciting things have been happening at Lanyon lately, lots of horses coming and going- I'm glad Bubba went to a good home- and that you can finally get a truck. And yes I do remember Lurch- he looked really nice the last time I saw him, with more weight on him. How's his training going, and what are your plans for him? Have you been doing more jumping on Floyd, cos he'd make a great schoolhorse. I've been looking at some of the pics you've got up here. The kids looked so cute riding in their fancy dress. All's ok here, apart from the crap weather lately-no surprises there, but it seems to be clearing up coming into spring. I've started riding a bit again. Lots more people have horses here, there are even stables in the suburbs. Ok thats it for now, I'll be writing more often :D see ya!
hey geoff you passed us with the horse float i was on the big yellow ugly bus
you said the horse took 4 hours to get on the horse float and its name is zoro and its black does it happen to be a girl called "maya" who had it
