A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I live in north-central BC in a small horse-crazy town, although most of the riders are western and I am a dressage enthusiast. I have two little girls who love horses (and all animals) too. My husband isn’t horsey but is great at stacking hay and fixing fences so I love him to death. I am a EC Level 1 coach. I have 2 preschoolers, 3 horses to ride, and am a Consultant by day. Whew!

    Hi, Nicole!

I finally have some time (thanks to it being too cold to ride today) to catch up on the forums, and saw your query about becoming a LII coach.

Given that EC will shortly be piloting the new LTED program (take at look at Coaching on the EC website) I think you should wait until some of the bugs are worked out. Right now even the pilot is extremely expensive - it would cost me between $3,500 and $4,000 to participate, and take 9 days out of my life. As I also have a family, competition horses, and clients I just can't spend that kind of time away at this time of year (start of competition season).

I'm not sure what your motivation would be, regardless. If you are a certified L1, you qualify for Capri's insurance package, which to my mind is about the only reason for pursuing certification. I know many excellent coaches who lack any certification at all, and more really poor coaches who are certified, right through LIII. I have a booming business, teaching and training, and have no aspirations to complete the LIII (or new High Performance 1) certification. I have only ever had one client approach me for training and coaching as a result of my certification, and she turned out to be one of the least dedicated riders I've ever had. The rest have come as a result of my competition and coaching records, and word of mouth.

NCCP has made the LTAD (EC's LTED) progression complicated and arduous, in my opinion, and I can't see much benefit to you in pursuing more certification.

    I hope this helps!

    Hey Nicole
Ya Ive been riding a little since the 1st of march, its nice to be back at it again, Pepsi is doing pretty good so far hopefully I can keep him as forward as he is right now, its weird he is actually using his hind end.
Are you going to show this year?.

Oh yes the new boots are Koniq.....nice with a front zipper and long up by the knee but stiff as hell....I promised to break them in this summer. I had a great ride on Florina today and managed to get some descent canter...she is smooth to ride and has a very big scopy canter once we get the transition. I have done a lot of forward walk and small transitions within the gait, and her shoulder fore is getting better if I ask for the Shoulder In I can lose the forwardeness but I must say its improving. She is getting stonger. I always seem to have a better ride the day after we hack out on the log road. She has a descent temperment and I take her with my coaches older gelding. I will try some outside fllexion has you mentioned as she can avoid the outside contact. I hope she improves. Alot of folks at the barn will be showing this summer but I don't want to push her as I know if I take it slow this contact issue can be sorted out.
PUT picture of the your young mare on barnmice.
