You bet you've lots of time. That's the most wonderful thing about horses. You are never too old! As long as you're able to get on and off you can ride, and when you can't do that anymore, you can hitch up a cart and drive. I am five years your senior and I'm still learning something new each time I ride.
Can you tell this is my passion? I feel so blessed that I have been given this gift in my life. When I'm with my horse, all the rest of the world magically disappears and it's just my horse and me in the moment. I guess there are other sports where this is so, but to be a part of another living thing is truly special. That's why I want my Emma to have this in her life too.
As for your equine search, I believe that horses will find us, so I'm sure that your horse is looking for you too.
I have a story to tell of how I found my big red guy that I'll tell when I've got more time.
    Enjoy your day.

What a beautiful area! I have lived in Florida all my life so I don't know about the environment in Co. When I retire I'd like to load up my horse and travel around to see everywhere. Lovely, Lovely horses.

Hi Barbara, Thank you for your kind words about Sadie and Lucy, they are sadly missed. Thank you also for the feed back about the website, it is nice to know we are hitting the mark there. I did write to Maureen about the search for a pony, and offered some advice. It sounds like she has her head screwed on ,and is looking in the right places. Cheers for now Geoffrey

Barby, what a sweet baby she is :-) But babies grow up and you can't ride a baby are you willing to wait till she is ready? To put in the extra money it takes to have her trained? or do it yourself? At our age we need to be realistic because we have no time to be anything else. It would be terrible for both of you if she didn't work out a year or two down the road. One thing I've been considering with my 6 is where they will go when I am no longer there to care for them. All but 2 will still be alive when I am too sore to ride anymore (wheelchair bound). Sad to think of but a reality for me due to the many crashes and hard riding and living I've done. Something maybe to consider also. I think you've made a good choice in a draft cross, but I think one older with more experience would be more fun for you and less frustrating since you already have waited so long to get back in the saddle. Sorry to be a downer :-( but I wanted to be honest.

BUGGA, too wet for bonfire :(
  • Geoffrey Pannell

We had a couple of pupils staying, and they came bearring lashing of chocolate, knowing my weaknes for the devil coco bean, If it's not too wet next weekend we will have the bonefire then. It's too wet and muddy to do any jumping ,so I'm fealing a bit groung bound. Still , can't complain, there's money in mud.
