A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I have ridden horses and trained them for 40 years so far, my husband and I ran an Equine Rehabilitation/Training centre for 9 years together, we have now separated. I have always had success with difficult horses, mostly because I listen to the horse and not just expect them to do as I ask. They have a voice too.

Welcome P. Ann, I love your philosophy!
  • Barbara F.

    Hi P. Ann,
I visited the link to your site and I also know Leslie, although I am not from out west. She was at our barn with Mark for a while and I used to watch her train (lots of hacking and long walks mixed into the schooling) I once even got to take Mark out on a hack! He was a perfect gentleman. Did you see her ride on Orion this past week? Unfortunately, he was very overwhelmed, but she did her best and did have some lovely moments.
  • P.Ann Turner

Hello there, No I did not see her ride on Orion, I was wondering how he was doing, thanks for the info, is there any video to be seen of it? Chees, Ann.

    Hi Ann,
I just ran across your page here, and must say I am very happy to see what you have been doing with equine rehab. Basically, you are doing what I hope to be doing in the future.
Its too bad I am so far away (in Ontario), otherwise I would love to go to your clinics.
Keep up the great equine rehab work! There really needs to be more facilities like yours!

Hi Pam, I'm impressed with your web site. Maybe we can do something with the Equestrian South Australia conference in May? Possibly doing some clinics around that . Shoot us a email and we can have a yarn about it. Cheers Geoffrey

We had x-rays done six months ago and some a few weeks and 3 or vets said that he definetley has Athritis and his x-rays have changed how th normally would in two years in six months. His fetlock is very swolen and he wont really stand on it. At the moment i really just want him out of pain i dont mind if i cant ride him i just dont like seeing him in pain. He is now getting Bone and Joint Supplement MSM and Glucosamine, Devils claw, and White willow. plus i got him one of those back on track boots and that seems to be helping him quite a bit.
We also had a chiropractor out to see him and she said his shoulder was out and she put it back in but his leg is so sore it hasent changed anything.
Im in New Zealand not Australia so wouldnt be going to the thing in australia maybe you can pop over here on your way there or back?
  • Sissi Wagnerberger

Yea i couldnt believe it either. Its really sad because he just absolutley loves his work and gets bored so easily. im not sure if we have slippery elm here as i have never seen it anywhere but i feed him rice bran oil would that help?
    Thanks for your help.
  • P.Ann Turner

Oh also you can use a good liniment like Absorbine, on the arthritic joint, or something that contains menthol, camphor and eucalyptus which help with inflammation and pain too. Arnica gel works also, again look online for natural arthritis remedies to try, if you can find liniment with comfrey in it, that is awesome too, good luck. Ann.

Hi Anne, The conference in May is only a small affair, just for coaches really . I thought it might be a way to introduce your credetials . It may be best to do a video link up for that one ? I think the wellness , four f's might strike a cord. Then we can build on that and perhaps get you out here for the Australian International Horse Trials in November . The conference in May is organized by the ESA branch, their web site is www.sa.equestrain.org.au email- reception@efasa.com.au . Angela Yeend is the CEO.
  • Geoffrey Pannell

I think the best thing is for you to make direct contact with Angela and see how that goes. The DVD sounds very good! I think the four F's will strike a cord here. It's about building a profile first and the DVD's would probably help that . How do we go about getting that type of think here? Are the any government duty's or any thing like that? Cheers Geoff
  • Geoffrey Pannell

Hi Anne, I think that all sounds great, a good way to start things off. Certainly you can stay with us. I guess we have to now have a figure that is the go or no-go number, the number that will make the decission as to weather or not it is viable. Say if we ran five seminars around the State ,in each regional centre . That would give you a bit of a siteseeing trip as well!! The DVD stuff would be best sent snail mail? If so, my postal address is P.O. Box 1367 ,Victor Harbor , South Australia, 5311, Australia. You might have to clarify the international part? Cheers Geoffrey
  • Geoffrey Pannell

The international address is what I was refering to. Adelaide is where you would fly into . That's quite a difference between the clinic cost and the lecture cost? I think the lecture series would be best, just need to know what is in a lecture. Time , content, that sort of thing. Cheers Geoffrey
  • Geoffrey Pannell

I'm a little confused? Are the lectures $1500 or the clinics? You've said the clinics are $350 ,then in the last email the clinics are dearer,so have I got this the wrong way around? Clinics $1500 and Lectures $350 , witch is what I would expect. Cheers Geoffrey
  • Geoffrey Pannell

Thanks for that Anne, we'll wait with baited breath for the arrivel of said parcel!!
  • Geoffrey Pannell

The parcel has arrived!!! had a quick look, v good. have'nt shown it to anyone else yet. Did you get in contact with Angela at ESA?
  • Sofia D

    Sure thing! Thanks!!
  • liz call, md

thanks for the comment. I think you misunderstood me. slow to learn the changes meaning that - the last 2 horses that I brought through this level (Caddymaster and Lego) just offered the changes. Tia is much more sensitive and it is taking longer to teach. It also took a very long time until she was comfortable in the counter canter.

You are at a disadvantage not seeing the horse.
  • Geoffrey Pannell

Hi Ann, A couple of people have looked at the video, thought it was interesting. Will show a feww more at a school I'm running this weekend .
  • Gretchen Austin

How far are you from Vancouver? I have a sister-in-law there...

    Hello to you Ann

Yes I gathered you are a spiritual person :)))) Me too. I am in the process of taking my connection and communication with horses to a whole new level as well. How wonderful the journey is!

I have had a brief look at your website and have directed your link to a new contact/friend who has a horse with kissing spine and some spine deformity in the loin area.

I was able to help the horse focus and release. I live in north Cumbria just south of the Scottish border. I would be interested to learn more about you and yes, the possibility of hosting a clinic here is there! This is what I like to do. At present I run monthly resources 4 horses days here and have been going a year this month.

Thank you for getting in touch in this way!
    Sally

    Hi Ann

Well let us look into something for next year.
My website is www.improveyourhorsemanship.co.uk and although it requires some updating it might give you an idea of the place and what I am endeavouring to do here. I was born in London, England 1954, went to Toronto in 1959 and came to Scotland 1967. My brother and I adored Canada but my parents never took out citizenship.

Do you produce dvds, articles etc that could be used to brief people on your holistic approach to wellness and to have them preparing themselves for your visit?

I have 7 unfit horses. Two I am bringing into fitness, both totally different from the other. So any availability to learn something from you would be a bonus. I am very much into relationship with my horses and from a horsemanship viewpoint like to work from release as much as possible not pressure. Thanks so much Ann and I look forward to hearing from you again. Take Care
    Sally

    Take care.

    Hi Ann
Yes Europe is pretty open to the spiritual side of things with animals. However, there are still those that are skeptical plus utilize their horses more for gain than give.Generally there are pockets of people dotted about in between the skeptical or unaware pnes, so giving clinics/workshops still are not always attracting big numbers, especially to unknown people. Get your information out there and people will do some of the work for you by word of mouth!
    Regards
    Sally.
