Hi there Heike I'm from northwest B.C. in the Bulkley Valley. I have 6 morgans and ride western although I am considering taking up English riding again, I am 59+ to be 60 in October. I plan to ride until physically I can't anymore. Thanks for considering me to be your friend! :-)

It all started when I was small in my 5 th year. I use to ride the family dog, the it went to sheep the calves, then cows Inbetween the calves and cows my family bought me my first pony in 1963. She had a foal by herside. After that the love for equines grow by the time I was 10 I was breeding ponies that were inhereted along the way At the age 12 I was selling them and trading. Then training and teaching became full force by the age 14. Highschool was the best start that I had in the Horse Industry. I started teaching student horseback riding for pe and formed the Rose City Riding Club (1969) I did everything from showing, jumping, trail rides organizing shows, dances etc. Horse and Buggy Lessons the list is endless. I had 36 appr even more at one time. and owned as many as a hundred in total.

I learnt a lot of what I know the hard way, watching , asking , experementing, trial and error. The process was fullfille with hardships, happiness, and life. The list goes on for ever.

Well...... my mom she owns a horse lesson buisness and I started riding when I was just born when my mom took me home I had everything baby wear horses my stuffed animals my clothes and my crib. I got on a horse for the first time when I had my 1st birthday then I got MY first pony when I was 5. She was a chestnut Arabian she was so nice she always gave kisses but then she passed away. My mom started her buisness when I was eight. I always rode 24/7 my mom couldn't get me off and so now I am a tweenager and I moved on a little and now I am focusing a little in school and sometimes boys. LOL!! So I have benn riding for most of my life.

hi there- i am Susie and I am on barn mice and i have a page devoted to my horses and my riding and breeding. The first of my 2 friesian mares had a colt 3 days ago and he is huge and glorious and sold. My other friesian is due in juluy and her baby is sold too. I also have 2 morgan mares i am breeding to an adnalusian stallion and will sell one mare in foal with a breed back to my own friesian as well.
then i just bought a wonderful adorable plaomino andalusian filly a few weeks ago- so i am too busy to ever sleep again

well Friday at 6 pm my mare saw me and yelled for me to come and she broke her water and standing up, started to deliver, but the foal was enormous and she has so much pain and could not do it so I got jeannie my friend and I and we opened the bag and helped with each contraction to pull the foal. A massive friesian colt- 140 lbs at leaat and he settled into my arms as i lowered him to the ground- 10 weeks after my right rotator cuff surgery- the foal is fine and huge and his name is I T'sunami and he is magnificant
he will be dnad and microchipped today and he is wonderful- and is sold to a fab family
mommy did not pass placenta so the vet was there andoxy and 3 days of infusing her. all is well now and I am delighted and exhausted

Sounds like we have allot in common. You are many steps ahead of me cause I kept telling myself I couldn't have a horse. We had a really nice boarding facility that I past every day I went to work & I'd always admire them. One day I went by & they were all gone. I pulled my car over & started sobbing at the thought of not seeing them anymore. As it turned out they were moved to a new place rather then just closed up. The new place is set way back off the road so the horses have a better life.
When my husband retired he gave me some money he'd stashed (after trying to get me to get a horse many times before) and said "get your horse" . The money went in the bank & I said, "I'm too old now & we can't afford it." My son started dating a girl with a couple horses. She invited me over. We played. My passion overflowed. I fell off. I took lessons. I bought a just 3 yr. old. He's now 9.
We joke that he's the only cash left as his name is "Cash" & he's the color of a shiny new penny. Best thing I've ever done besides marry a great guy & have three great kids/adults now. I'd love to train but for now the best I might do is find someone that might let me do some things with horses they are working on. I've been considering taking massage equine classes but have research to do in that area. I am a strong believer in alternative healing for horses and people. Acupuncture, Reflexology, Massage, Kinesiology, Homeopathy & Bowen Therapy are the things I am most familiar with.
I am very concerned about the treatment & outcome of our wild horses & the slaughter methods that are in use currently. I am a fan (but not religiously) of Pat & Linda Parelli. I have learned so much from them. I love to do ground stuff, teach tricks & ride for pleasure. I'm not designed for competitive horse events but love to work on progressing & only competing with myself.
Today I went to a BLM Sale of Mustangs & Burros with no intent to buy. I just wanted to see the process & condition of the horses.

When I was looking for a place to take riding lessons I called several places & was led by a trainer that couldn't help me to a couple that did horse training & lessons. She'd seen the fella and liked how he did things with horses. I ended up with that couple at their training barn for 3+years. I was like a sponge trying to make up for lost time & spent as many hours there as I could which meant many long days. They were great about letting me just be around & watch & ride with them. The fella got allot of horses that no one else would take for training but he also did western & dressage training for showing. I loved how fair he was with horses & he could ride anything. They were not into breeding except we had four stallions & sometimes they did the actual breeding at our stable. Andalusian and QH stallions. No pregnant mares or birthing at our barn. It was my second home & I loved it there. Eventually after three years I knew I had to move on & stop traveling 70 miles round trip most every day to a place 7 miles round-trip away from my home. Nice 15 horse facility. I'm starting my 3rd spring/summer at my new place & really miss the atmosphere of the old place.
I had my first experience with an abused horse at the training barn. He was a very large Tennessee Walker that was sent there as a last resort. He & I got very close & I learned allot about myself with him. He learned he could trust from me. My experiences with him are a very long emotional story that I won't go into but he's very much a part of me even though he is gone now. He changed me.

I suspect you & I have the same weather today. Cold wet windy day. It's only 45 F here & feels like 35 degrees. I didn't see Cash yesterday so I'm anxious to spend some quality time with him today even if we don't ride. I do many different things with Cash but my biggest challenge is riding with confidence. My riding goal is to trail ride & that's not in Cash's background. We are learning together~ slowly.
