A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
My boyfriend and I have 2 welsh ponies that he drives in Combined Driving Events all over the place, most of them are in the states so we travel all through the summer! We also have 2 young British Riding Ponies which will be trained for combined driving as well. I can't wait to show them!
I'm also working with a cob, Roger, which I have done some dressage shows with him and a few driving shows. He has been awesome for me! What a good boy!

Had a good holiday - here and there when I got days off.

Wind storm last weekend took the fiberglass roof off the trailer (repairable once the wind dies down and it's not freezing out) and some sheet metal off the front of the barn (again repairable).

    How was your holiday?
  • Diana

I too had to work most of the holidays. I work Xmas Day at Touch N Go, got Boxing Day and New Year's Day off but had to work the Saturday of both weekends

Sorry to hear you folks are down and out with the flu. Poor Hunter as he really can't tell you how he's feeling. How's Darlene's back?

Sorry to hear about the wind storm damage to the truck and fencing.

Take care and see you soon - any word on the dates for the 2009 Star Search Qualifiers?

    Hi Alison:
Thank you for your lovely comment about Rhumba's head shot. She is such a nice mare and we all love her. The small picture is her with her 2007 foal.

I hear you on the fun of riding this winter. Yesterday was the first and second time I've ridden since Nationals in mid-October. I re-backed Finnegan and backed for the first time Rocky 2 of the New Forests I've been working with over the winter. Something about wanting to thub not snap if I happened to come off was holding me back.

With Finnegan I can go full steam ahead as last winter we were walk trotting. Rocky is going to be a tad bit slower but once I have him confidently walking and trotting him I hand him over to the Level 2 Eventing Coach who also rides at the barn and get the next beastlie going.

Darlene called me the other night and gave me some of the dates for the pony shows - confirmed are the usual 5-7 that she handles for the Star Search. Definitely Pause-A-Tively Ponies, NEWPA, Sutton, Barrie, Jokers Hill, Summerfest and CNE are confirmed.

Thank you Alison for you comments. Your pictures are lovely. I hope to attend some driving events in Ont this year, at least to watch.

    Thanks, Alison!

Yes, it is the one at Relhok. I think there is another at Orchard Park in May? but more advanced, although Barb (Tri-County Carriage Association) said I should go audit it because the clinician is really good.
I am really excited to learn to drive. I'm sure my Clyde x mare would take to it happily, or I may find something completely different for driving....(someone has an adorable team of Haflinger x Belgians for sale on EMG)
Combined driving looks amazing! Very cool! I'm hoping to event my mare, but I can't imagine doing the combined stuff while driving - wow!
  • Jennifer Moore

Yep, I'm hearing really good things about Jeff, Alison. Looking forward to checking out the farm and meeting him - I am thinking of having my Clyde x mare broke to harness this fall...

    Hi Alison!
I figured he must have left because I haven't seen him in his paddock when I drive by your place. Hope everything goes well with his training and be sure to give me updates!

Hi Alison! Welcome to the Toronto CADORA group on Barnmice. Your photos are beautiful. Driving is something I would love to try someday. Looks like fun!
