Re-rider with my sweet Clyde x TB mare purchased in May 2009. Rode hunters as a youngster, broke TB's for the track, took a 15 year break from riding. Now working on my 4 yr old mare, hoping to do some low-level eventing and dressage.

Do you have any pets?
Some Boer goats, a llama, two dogs, two cats, the wondermare.
I hear ya on not bouncing like I used to. Now it is bounce, crunch or thud! :-) After my last couple falls I took a break from jumping for a while. I have gotten back to jumping occasionally and am probably better for it. I am more relaxed and haven't fallen since. (Knock on wood!) I would like to run a grasshopper or beginning novice cross country course though. Griffin gets very excited around other horses so we are working on that for now and getting him to canter decently.
That would be fun - school cross country. The barn I ride at has a Pony Club so they usually go do things like that as part of Pony Club events. I am a *bit* older and so don't get to go. :-(
You'll have a lot of fun at Relhok. Jeff is a great teacher and he knows a lot. Combined driving is a lot of fun (though I don't drive, I only navigate in the combined shows. I only drive in the pleasure shows...for now!).

Hi Jennifer, I see you are sending your horse for training this winter. If you are planning to come east of Toronto, please consider giving us a call and stopping by. We are located 1 hour east of Toronto and always welcome visitors. We just got back frm a delightful evening drive!
Good Morning Jennifer,
We do not train horses for driving, my invitation was merely social. As far as a trainer goes, I have heard great things about Jeff Kohler but have never met him. I have taken lessons with Kirstn Brunner who is about an hour or so south of you in Erin. She and her husband David, ( who trains the horses) are exceptional trainers. Kirsten is extremely accomplished herself and has students who have excelled in driving and riding. Don't know about prices there.
As far as training for driving is concerned it is essential that you get the horse trained by someone who knows driving. Its far too risky to try to do it yourself no matter how good a rider you are.
Yess we have Canadians and we love them. Our mare is for sale ( Kharma) but she is a very forward horse ideal for combined driving and she needs an experienced driver,. If you are planning a trip east of Toronto, please consider giving us a call and stopping by!
Chhers,
Frances
