Are you competing this year in the NAYRC?
    see you...

    Hi Andrea!

Good to hear from you. The deadline for the September issue will be September 4. And thanks for the heads up on Christilot's next visit. That's awfully close to the Chris Irwin event (July 24) so the sooner we can get a definite on that date, the better, if we're going to have a hope of doing a Dressage and Dessert. It needs to be publicized and planned, etc. So, if between you and John you could keep me posted I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, Andrea. Hope you're having a good summer and enjoying the ride. ;-) Dorothy

    Hi Andrea,

You posted your comment already quite a while ago but I was too busy to check Barnmice for the past weeks.

Here's my short reply, if you need extra information feel free to ask whatever you want!

I write for the Belgian monthly magazine CAP magazine. I mainly cover dressage (e.g. interviews with competition riders) and training advice (articiles about lungeing for dressage, working with cavalletti, the Skala, ...). Sometimes I pick up on something which interests me and then I write an article about that as well. For example, recently I started reading about German reitpony's and the successes of certain lineages on CDI-P level, so then I visit some people and write a feature about that.

This is not my fulltime occupation, I need to be able to do different stuff, so I also teach Dutch literature and linguistics and history.

  • Amber

Where in Canada are you, I am in desperate need of a good coach!!
  • Amber

Well thanks anyways.. If you ever come to Winnipeg let me know, I would love to take even just one lesson and have you try out my boy!!!
  • Amber

Right now we are working on getting him to relax ....... He is proving to be a lot of horse for me!! But that won't deter me.. A lot of people have told me to sell, but I just can't seem to find it in my heart to do it.. I am very nervous since my fall a year and a half ago, and tend to become tense once in the saddle, which in turn he picks up on, and he starts to do piaffe on the spot!!
  • Amber

Thanks Andrea!! I`ll start with that and let you know how we progress!!
  • peter pan

Sorry if it's a bit out of time, but haven't logged on for several months as I have been pretty busy at college. Thank for the comment, it's very apreciating when someone else likes what you do...the horse is a french gelding, former show jumper that I took when he was 15 years old or so....he couldn't do anything and won't go forward...now with 19 years old he is trained up to 3rd level....he couldn't do more, too old and lazy....but I trained him myself, and he trained me, which makes me feel proud...apart from here in spain, I have also trained in the states in a farm as a working students 2 years ago, it's was pretty nice, althought the owner/riders of the farm weren't that nice at all...
Well, gotta say you also have nice pictures and guess a horse better trained than mine...hahaha

You are very welcome and i look forward to the next event.

Andrea - thanks so much for the hearty welcome and the interest on the Costa Rica trip - it's one of my all time favorites - where else can you gallop down the beach in a bathing suit for miles?

I've enjoyed (very much) your photos and learning about you - you are quite talented!

By the way, just a side note - if you know anyone that is interested in attending WEG 2010 in Kentucky, my company is also selling "A" level tickets and hotel packages. We have excellent seats and great hotels and we are really excited. These are on sale now. Thanks!

Ok, stay in touch, it's great to be connected!
  • Andrea Menzel

We were both a little nervous but I am so proud of him. I could tell that he was really trying to be a good boy. Thank you so much for your support...it means a lot. I think Justin's braiding made him feel very special!
  • Emily

    Hi Andrea!
    I accepted it :)
    Thanks :)

ps. ur horse is really pretty :)
  • Sarah Winfield

No we aren't a competitive drill team. We just put on shows for people and ride to have fun! :)
Western riding is a lot of fun, very relaxed compared to english. I just switched over to western and I really enjoy both disciplines.
I used to love dressage, and did well in low level dressage..
Its so cool that you were on the Canadian Dressage Young Rider Team!
  • Savannah Rijk

    Thanks :)
  • Leslie Tunnicliff

    Hi Andrea
    Thanks for the welcome.
    How are you doing?
Yes I am the Leslie that worked at Belinda's barn a few years ago, while Belinda was pregnant.
I work for Eventers Robin and Melanie. Robin's farm is Archer's Grove in Uxbridge. I'm mostly barn staff. When I have a weekend off from DJing I try to get to the shows to help out.
Yes I'm still a DJ and doing well with it.

    Leslie
  • Leslie Ann Dusty

Thanks! This was his first turnout since February when he severed his extensor tendon in his left hind! This was taken in September.
  • Vanessa Beach

    Thanks! Yours too!
  • Sarah Winfield

    Thanks :D
  • Leslie Tunnicliff

So what's the new horses name and how wonderful is he/she?

As a DJ I'm willing to go anywhere! Sometimes overnight accom. is needed, and I haven't been flown anywhere yet, but I'm always up for an adventure.

I'm still enjoying taking care of Robin's barn, and she is wonderful about me having to go be a DJ. Someday I hope it will pay for a horse. But then the hard part comes in finding the right one.

And how is the group at Belinda's. Big changes or still pretty much the same?
I know John moved in but I hadn't heard much else. Say Hi for me.
  • Leslie Ann Dusty

He severed his tendon last February. Electric fence. Hasn't ever been a problem til then. Took him to Dreamcrest while Kelly and Ian were away and started him up after a year off. Was great!! Tracking up and forward and awesome!!! With any luck I'd like to get him to a bronze dressage show this year. At least that's the plan!!!
  • Leslie Ann Dusty

Thanks Andrea! Have had my fingers crossed for so long they`re numb!!
  • Lisa L. Dewey

    Hi Andrea,
    FYI,
Neither winner has contacted me as of yet.

    Hi Andrea:
No I did not remember my password but Sherri & Dorothy put me on during the last reunion meeting & started me over again.
Its fun to have a response via my email - that was you! I need to sit down & navigate this site as there are many forums that intrigue me that I did not know existed.
    Thanks for responding, Pam

Hi Andrea. Thanks for adding me as a friend, and my boy thanks you for the compliment. :) He is a sweetie... he loves cuddles and he tries very hard to do what is asked of him (usually *lol*).
  • Jenn Whittem

Merry Christmas! I won't be riding in the clinic but, my part boarder will. I will be helping out and watching though! Will be nice to see you again. Things are good! Love the most recent pics of you! Beautiful!
  • Alison Plumbtree

    Hey Andrea,
Roger left last Friday for training. I miss him already!! I can go and see him in a week or so....We will give Jim a call in the next day or so to see how he's doing...
    Alison
  • Alison Plumbtree

    Hi Andrea,
Roger has been there for a week already, and we went up today to go and see him drive with Jim. To my suprise he let me drive him in the ring. He was so good! Then Jim said to take him down the road. A car went by us and a dog was barking at him (Jim said that he used to have a problem with the dog, but not today!). He was scared of a couch on the side of the road, but we got him by it, with Jim leading him. He was so good, its really hard to beleive that hes only been driving for a week! Jim said he really liked him, and that he had a really nice soft mouth. Jim said he was going to move the couch to a different spot and drive him by it again. He's really getting him exposed to things. Theres dirt bikes next door and they have even come up on Roger when hes been driving him and he was really good with them. We plan on going back up next weekend and I will drive him again. Jim said he would come here for the first time when I drive Roger to help me out. He really is a great guy!! I cant say good enough things about him.
    Alison
  • Jenn Whittem

Thanks! I'm excited to go. Now I just have to get a group from the barn to come too! Will you be riding in it?
  • Jenn Whittem

Fair enough! Then I'm glad you aren't riding! ;)
  • Jenna Merkley

    Hey Andrea,
I'm hoping to get high up in dressage like you, but as of right now, thats not happening! I need to find a dressage instructor first though! :)
  • Jenna Merkley

    Hey Andrea,
I'm far away from there I think, I'm like 40 mins away from North Gower. :)
  • Jenna Merkley

Lol, yeah, so I'm going to try and find a good dressage instructor and start lessons with them this summer! :)
