I got my first horse 40 years ago today (7-4-1970, I was 19) after having trail ridden in Chile and Uruguay for four years while in grade school.
I am now disabled with Multiple sclerosis. I still ride due to the kindness of others (human and equine}.
I now ride Forward Seat on the flat, since I am too disabled to jump.
I adore Arabian horses!
Hi thanks he is all heart, all 800 lbs of him. He just finished being parked first up the entire mile 6 days before this... so he has had two tough back to back trips in a row... and I know next time he goes to the gate he will try just as hard each and everytime...
When we send him to the gait the drivers are told that no matter what they are NOT to hit him... if they do I won't promise what I would do to THEM! They know my rep so they don't cross me. I don't believe in hitting any horse... but this horse is special since no matter the odds he tries each and everytime.. in fact he has to be guarded from trying too much, as he could kill himself and nearly did last year, when he over extended himself. After 20 some years with stbs, and my husbands over 40, we have seen few horses that would try like that, so despite the fact he is only a botom claimer, we think he is a 'world champion' and we treat him accordingly... ps he loves black licorice, being spoiled, and treats of any kind go over pretty good, his fly mask is his best friend, and blankets for a little horse that once nearly froze to death are heaven sent and a gift of the gods-- the world according to Tattoo... I have never seen a horse snuggle into his blankets like this horse, you would think that he was a baby with his 'blankie' he wears two in the winter and is happy as a clam... we resuced him ( over paid dearly for that privilage) and believe me Tattoo has never forgoten where he came from, and appreciates the love we lavish on him each and everyday... are we the good guys in this story??? no... he deserves it in my opinion the little fella has a heart of a lion.... thanks for commenting if you are interested he should be in Flamboro next Friday. take care from Tattoo, Che and me Deb
Northern part, however I did visit the south and not only found it beautiful but the people were wonderful and the city very clean and the horses very regal. Thanks for the tip, I'll follow through with reseach on the internet.
hi, thanks for the welcome note. i was afraid i wouldn't fit in but after seeing pix of riders without bits i feel like i might get along with everyone. i ride very casual, halter and bareback, just moseying. i love the horses God gave me and look forward to staggering out every morning to feed and greet. while i haven't ridden much due to the heat, i always make my rounds for grooming and scratch duty. what a life! let's keep our hurricane friends in our prayers and abused horses everywhere.
Thank you this is new to me hope I can learn more about horses and horse friends I make here. Majority owner of a full time horse farm. 60 acres and several buildings to keep the family occupied. 3 generations of family live on the farm 3 mothers, 4 of my siblings are here I am the oldest and now have young ones of our own.
Thank You for the welcome. I will post a little more about myself, my horse career and the product I sell for prevention of equine gastric ulcers at a later date. Meanwhile, thank you again, I love looking at everyone's photos. I'll upload more later, as of now I just put some up of the true love of my life, Colt, my long haired Dachsund and some of his barn friends.

You are amazing! Instead of this disease taking charge of your life, You have taken charge of this disease! Wow! Hats off to many more years of horseback riding!
