Belly clipped Coutts today, will clip Shelby on Mon,Off to ODE this weekend as Assist TD, looking forward to it. I have been asked by the NZEF to train with them as TD and XC Judge.Really looking forward to it.What events have you been to lately. We totally shut down here there are no competitions in our area until Oct due to weather and ground conditions.

YES, he can jump, Geoffrey! Much higher than I can! He's shown at 3'9"!
His career will be dressage now with a few cavaletti thrown in and lots of hacking.
Did you watch the little video I posted? I'm really excited about him!
  • Jocelyn

    Thank-you very much.
All of your encouragement and tips has helped lots, and I'll keep it all in mind next time I jump.

Hi Geoffrey, Merry Cristmas to you & thank you for becoming a friend. Well! Us Irish are hardy riders in wind & rain but add snow & ice in Westport, Co Mayo, and hunting cancelled, we the riders, go into meltdown and cabin fever.LOL

  • Claire Gibbs

yeah i havent been on here in so long but there are some on facebook but i shall put a few on here. i have a dressage lesson this arvo so i might get a few today as well but im in desperate need of some jumps as im having withdrawal symptoms!!! haha

    Merry Christmas

  • Jackie Cochran

Enjoy the beach Geoffrey.  When I lived in Uruguay we used to go trail riding out to the beach and ride on it.  Great fun galoping in the sand, and it is softer to land on.
  • Barnmice Admin

Geoffrey, are you near Brisbaine? What's going on? The videos are unbearable to watch. :(
  • Jackie Cochran

Hey Geoffrey, I was just looking at your hunt team pictures.  Must be quite a challenge to get you four different horses going so well together.  Good work!
  • Jackie Cochran

17.3?  Wow, the jumps sure should look smaller from his back!
  • Jackie Cochran

    Ooh, I like Dusty!

Breedy head, looks balanced, and I absolutely adore the golden buckskins.

    Conformation photos, PLEASE.

  • Jackie Cochran

Is Kiwi your new 17.3 horse?
  • Jackie Cochran

I guess you will have to get your rides in when Nick is in school.

Besides, you can make Nick to all that uphill trot work.  Get Kiwi muscled up for you.

  • Jackie Cochran

Stallion?  Good for you.  What are you training him in?
  • deb pawlyshyn

Thankyou I enjoyed your pics as well a beautiful variety and love the ones of the 4 teams jumping.I am also interested in your progress with your stallion.

    Deb

  • deb pawlyshyn

    how is the Stally progressing?
  • deb pawlyshyn

glad to hear cool that you do a fair amount of long lineing. Do you do any chambon work on the lnge?

    deb

  • deb pawlyshyn

    sorry tat should read lounge
  • deb pawlyshyn

I am going to quit now while I am ahead. lol not sure how to edit yet
  • deb pawlyshyn

oh I use the chambon to work their backs before I ride them so interesting that you do it after you ride them.. Mind you around here no one knows anything about how a chambon works or even what they look like. part of my tools though.
  • deb pawlyshyn

Yes we do a lot of plow jockey work and long lineing work as well. Our horses are also broke to a heavy roping saddle with tightened back cinch. Just started doing this about 4 yrs back and am happy with the results of them being able to tolerate different equipment on them.I know what you mean about the babies sometimes becoming a little anxious with the chambon, I like to keep them in a round pen through that phase untill they adjust. We keep them going in the chambon for about 2 months in between they are also doing the plow jockey work around the property.Your training practices sound very similiar to ours.

  • Meghan Rainey

hey geoffery, just a question for you. i'm riding western now instead of english but im still having trouble relaxing my lower leg and my instructor has me doing heel down toes down while walking is there anything else i can do to help relax my leg? also when i lope i stiffen my upper body. is there anything to do that will help me relax more so i can sit better at the lope? thanks ~Meghan~
  • Meghan Rainey

i do sometimes forget to breath when im loping but im normally loose at the walk and trot but i will try to post some pictures if i can get my instructor to take some... i also have been on 3 different horses for my lessons but im riding a pintabian now which i seem to ride better then the 2 paints i started on...
  • Holly
