A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I train hunters, jumpers and dressage horses, professionally For a while in the 80's I had the great pleasure of eventing a Connemara Stallion. Now I am older and more fragile and I content myself with obstacles that FALLDOWN when I hit them. I have been a student of Dressage for many years and am very fortunate to have found someone to work with in the Rochester area who uses the French interpretation of Dressage. I have been riding for 45 years, and I still like to ride. And I love my horses.

Hi P.J., I tried to reply to your e-mail but I can't get one through on the Barnmice system. I've tried 3 times.
Yes, I've read and liked the stuff on the Science of Motion. Jean Luc's work on how the horse's back works is very important.
Since my MS badly affects my balance and coordination I cannot do the in-hand work like Jean Luc does. I have unkinked horse's backs by riding Forward Seat and using Forward control--the horses I ride usually determine their own head carriage I do not pound on their backs and I keep my contact as light as possible. It may take me longer than Jean Luc, but even riding just 1 hour a week (two 30 min. rides) I get progress toward relaxation and with the horse decontracting and voluntarily reaching for the bit.
I do wish more dressage riders would follow the Science of Motion method.
