I've been an equestrian since grade 5...competed on the quarter horse circuit for 5 years - enjoyed moderate success. Have enjoyed barrel racing and the pickup race, jumping and hunted with the local Hunt Club twice on a quarter horse. Presently own 2 horses: one 16 hh quarter horse mare and one part Welsh/Standardbred mare. I compete in dressage with the quarter horse mare - working 2nd level, competing 1st. Presently starting work on the Welsh.
Hi I also have stbs. but they are race horses... 2- one is a 3 year old colt that is supposed to be an eventer when I am done with racing him (he hasn't made it yet) and the other is the older horse that is supposed to be paying to keep the colt!!! that hasn't happened yet either since Tattoo (the 6 year old) has been to the gate twice for me and got nothing both times! back to the drawing board! lol
Anyway, I love all horses, and all breeds, but after having and working with tones of different horses/breeds over the years, I've come to love the stbs best.
take care and good luck to you and both your horses
