I'll 18 in September and will start pre-veterinary medicine in August. I'm attending the University of Findlay(YAYYYYYYY) in Ohio and double majoring in pre-veterinary medicine/western equestrian studies. I own no horses but take care of them for various people. My hobbies include the following: reading, writing, drawing, painting, going for loooooong walks, collecting shells, horses, horses, horses, horses and more horses. I have a snow globe collection I'm trying to expand and a horse figurine collection I'm trying to revive. I've enough horse books and magazines to stock a library. I have four brothers and three sisters, two dogs and lizards. I worked at a therapy stable for a while and made great friends and taught some really awesome kids how to ride.
You said that you used a bosal when you rode. What type of bosal? Is it a "real" bosal made of braided rawhide with the buttons and fiador, or a "hackamore bit" (two side pieces, noseband, curb strap, works by leverage)?
Yes, it is a real bosal, you lucky girl. I never got to ride with one but I have read a lot about how to ride with one if I ever get up on a horse wearing one.
I am glad you are riding with this because release of the hand aids is REALLY important with the bosal. Hopefully it will teach you good habits with your hands that will help you communicating with the horse with a bit when you get there. When in training horses learn from the release!
