A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I have 5 horses, 4 are Missouri Foxtrotters, and one is a Mt. Pleasure horse. I love all things horse. Love trail riding and teaching my horses new things. Right now I am working on clicker training. In addition to horses I have 4 dogs, 9 cats (and growing due to people dropping off), a large parrot and I am pretty sure due to the lazy cats numerous barn mice. ;)

Hi Gayle! Welcome to Barnmice! :) How did you get into clicker training? That seems like a very interesting training approach to me!

Hi Gayle, I used to have Arabs, some from the preservationist Davenport group (2 pure, 1 Anglo-Arab) among some regular Arabs (and part-Arabs, a Paso Fino and a POA pony).  I don't have any horses now but I found that great rarity, a hunt seat stable whose owner really, really likes Arabs and now I ride 2 Arabs there.  The mare in my avatar photo, Mia, is an old mare, probably around 30 now, is owned by that stable.

Your friend has exposed you to Arabs of undoubtedly pure blood.  They are different from the general Arabians.  All Arabs are noble creatures, no doubt about that, but the undoubtedly pure ones are different somewhat in the way they view the world and human beings.  Active cooperation of an intelligent animal, when you get that there is nothing like it.

Wow! I am always amazed at how we can pull things from our everyday lives and "jobs" and apply them to horses. My husband is a Neuro-Linguist for example, so I have noticed some of the techniques he can use in therapy can also apply to horse training (as far as body language, voice tonality, etc).

What kinds of things can you teach horses with clicker training?
