At 82, I am still riding. I have five horses in my stable and one out on lease with one of the young teenagers that I welcome to the barn to ride, but, more importantly, to learn about what makes a good horseman(woman).
WOW, you are still riding. "Your" teenagers are lucky to find you, so few people teach the type of horsemanship I learned over 40 years ago when I started riding. I ride Forward Seat/Ft. Riley seat, as it is the most secure for me since I am disabled by Multiple sclerosis. I no longer jump or gallop, and canter only once in a while, but at least I am still riding!
I do not know if you have the time, but it would be GREAT if you could write some blogs about what makes a good horseman. I am trying to show and teach it through my blogs, but since I mostly putter around the ring not many really listen to me.
We have an Over 60 Group. Not much activity, but it is there.
Hi Betty, the bay is a pure Arab mare, Mia, who is around 30 now. She was almost frozen in place with arthritis (occult spavin) when my riding teacher begged me to take her on since, being pretty tired from my Multiple Sclerosis, she knew that I would not overwork her. I have over 40 blogs that at least mention her, from how I started reclaiming her to how she, as a picky, picky, sensitive old lady keeps me on the straight and narrow!
