A Bit About Me and my Horse(s): Equi Academy was founded by me, Zita Pels. As a little girl I fell in love with horses and that feeling never went away. When I was ten I started riding in a riding school and when I was fifteen I started working there. First in the stables but soon I was teaching children and adults. At the same time I finished high school and started with a degree in Business Economics. I found out that that was not what I was searching for and after completing the first year I went to Academy Bartels, the stables of Dutch Olympic dressage riders Tineke Bartels and Imke Schellekens-Bartels. Next to my work there I started with the Instructor and Trainer course for the Equiestrian Sport at NHB Deurne. After working there for more than a year I started with a study in Governance at the University of Utrecht and at the same time I finished the instructor course and started my own business, Stal Tjits (named after my Friesian grandmother). Equi Academy is the international siter company of Stal Tjits.

In 2010 I completed the instructor course of Emiel Voest and I am now a licensed natural horsemanship instructor. Since 2012 I'm also a Horse Agility Accredited Trainer.

I am an international level 2 trainer and has a level 3 allround (jumping and dressage) licence given by the Dutch Equestrian Sport Association.
