I just started English riding 6 years ago at the age of 55, and now enjoy riding twice a week at a riding school where we do flatwork and hunter courses. Will never be able to own a horse as I have severe arthritis in one hip so am limited in the amount of riding I can do. The riding has actually helped my hip be a bit more flexible and stronger.
I have 3 Miniature Schnauzers that I have trained for, and compete with in agility. Two of them are at the Masters level, and one is a beginner. The oldest, Dakota, just completed his Agility Trial Championship Title in September, and Sasha has just 2 qualifying runs to go for hers. It is a real thrill for me to run my dogs in agility knowing that they love it as much as I do. I also take Dakota and Sasha, who are Therapy Dogs, to the hospital to visit the patients once a week.
Besides riding twice a week, dog classes twice a week, golf in the summer at least once a week, and skiing in the winter, I keep pretty busy.
