Hey Gary! Isn't showing so much fun! I started back riding 2 years ago, I am 46. Enjoy your newest adventure and the club of horse friends you will grow to know!

I agree completely with everyone else who posted. I would like to add a thought about scoring in general. It seems to me that scores are on the rise in all of the major competitions. I remember the beginning of this EG winning streak. He broke the r…

mine are the same as last time....(please refer to my blog: http://iridedressage.blogspot.com for several posts on this subject) with the additional comment, that it seems that the more things change the more they stay the same. sigh. The basic work…

Although I'm not familiar with Harris' works I would bet that they are similar and even based on both of the works you cite. Phillipe Raul is very much a Baucherist whose book explains the flexions and debunks many of the requirements of the dressag…

Some good points Ellin. How do you think this compares with the thoughts exposed in "Workbooks from the Spanish Riding School, Charles Harris" and "School of Horsemanship, Francois Robichon de la Gueriniere"??

OK, you asked for an opinion! Obviously the horse is exciting to watch, but I predict that the way he is being ridden will hasten the end of his useful show life. He is a leg mover which restricts the back and stiffens the muscles not allowing the h…

Hi Gary Good for you. I started riding at 47 for the first time in my life. Prior to that I barely new horses existed. Once I was in the saddle, it was hard to get off. I am still on 11 years later, with my own horse and doing some dressage competi…

Thank you for the greeting Laura. I do not intend to buy my own horse as I cannot dedicate the time I would need to in order to build a full relationship and give the horse the respect, time and energy it would deserve. So the challenge for me is to…

Hey Gary, Welcome to the most delightful of all obsessions. I have a friend I started in dressage about 10 years ago. He was riding school horses and owned a sweet little arab. Today he's winning everything on a fancy warmblood he bought and has mov…

HI

I am a late 40 something Englishman who came to equesrianism late in life due to a number of Equestrian clients coming my way. I am a National Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master Practitioner of NLP and also have qualifications in "Sports Psychology" and "Equine Psychology and Behaviour", enabling me to see the whole picture and help both horse and rider. I am looking to chat with like minded people, who believe there are no boundaries to what you can achieve IF you really want to :-)

The late medieval nobility turned dressage into a sport by giving public demonstrations of "horse ballets" to wow the commoners during public celebrations. They would do airs above the ground as well as movements on the ground. The late medieval kni…

There are horses that do not think the little fences are worth worrying about. Are you lungeing him over the jumps just in a cavesson, or are you using side reins too? Do you lunge over jumps with a saddle on? Do not use side reins (I am not saying…

Where did I state that medival dressage was humane and correct? I have stipulated that the SRS under Podhajsky presented dressage more correctly. I know who Kottas is and he is not a horseman! Podhajsky was a horseman and even General Patton was a h…
