- A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
- Having traveled the world in pursuit of equestrian excellence in my foolhardy youth, I returned to my roots in Northern Ontario to marry the man of my dreams and raise a family of 3 wild boys, in what I thought would be a more 'normal' setting. HA! Turns out 'normal' and I don't coexist, but who needs normal anyways?! My goal is to carve a beautiful equestrian centre out of this piece of stunning Northern Ontario wilderness we call home and to share my love of good horsemanship with the next generation of horse-obsessed youngsters (and oldsters).
With many thanks to all of the horsemen I have learned from over the years: my parents, Chuck and Keitha Lockton, my first coach David Godson (to whom I owe my greatest thanks for instilling a proper foundation of basics and horsemanship), Edwine Hugenhotz (a classical dressage mentor - the kindest, most patient teacher of both horses and their riders), Nick Holmes-Smith (dedicated as much enthusiasm to my success as his own and made so many opportunities happen), Peter Taylor (the best course-walker ever and an all around inspiration), Peter Gray (a stickler for detail in all things), Colonel Gutowski (no short cuts, total respect and no riding in your shorts and chaps!), Edie Tarves (for trusting me with everything and being a great ambassador!), Momo Laframboise (techno-bandit and empassioned woman extraordinaire), William Micklem (appearances DO matter and details, details, details!), Capt Mark Phillips (making the 3 month YR scholarship possible and opening his home to 3 delinquent Canadian teens - thank you!), Liz Ashton, Fleur Tipton, Lorraine Laframboise et al behind the scenes of the CET (for making so many amazing training opportunities happen), Jack LeGoff (the Horseman of the Century - I was fortunate to train with him in his own backyard between team training camps. A legend and a game-changer. I still both smile ruefully and curse when I think of him and continue to learn lessons from him to this day), Jimmy Wofford (an amazing analyzer of the entire game, a solid, no- nonsense- cut-through-the-crap coach who always hit the nail on the head. ), Oded Shimoni (his horses loved working for him, because they always knew what his expectations were and were rewarded for their efforts. He added a new understanding of absolute consistency to my training), Danny and Jenny Foster (for taking the 'token event rider' under their wings for her stint on the A circuit and for making sure I got at least one Grand Prix under my belt! Thank you!), Denny Emerson (for teaching me that tenacity and hard work can win where money and talent fail), Walter Zettl (until recently his teachings have been distilled through his former protegee, Edwine. I hope to train with him again in 2012 and do justice to the joy and purity of his work with horses. The ultimate Master and a true advocate for classical dressage and the love of horses).
These are the 'Game Changers' in my life.

Jumping off the Pendulum: In Search of a Balanced Life With Horses
I am a 42 year old mother of three boys from the small town of Rutherglen, in Northern Ontario. I grew up on a horse’s back, graduated Pony Club as an ‘A’, brought home a team bronze in Eventing at the NAJYRCs, was a reserve for the 1992 Olympics and a short or long listed member of the Canadian 3-Day Eventing Team from 1990 – 2002. My name is Gary Glaser and I am the mounted commander of the 9th New York Cavalry and live in Binbrook, Ont. I belong to a group of equine enthusiasts that enjoy living historians and American civil war, we are the 9th NY cavalry.
The Ninth New York Cavalry has been reactivated by ain the portrayal of the life of the Federal Horse Soldier. As a group, we participate in living history encampments, re-enactments, and giving informative lectures throughout the year in both Ontario and the U.S. Visit use on the web atwww.9thnycavalry.com .
