Founded in 1997. The Stables at South Molton is a horse breeding and training facility dedicated to developing premium quality American Quarter Horses for recreational use.
A gentleman: Starbuck is ideal for the rider looking to have fun and fall in love. He is well mannered and confident, a true gentleman, with the unique ability to put even less experience riders at ease.
Starbuck delivers the perfect balance of energy and calmness. While his energy makes him fun and easy to train, his calmness helps his rider build confidence. At 15 HH Starbuck is comfortable to mount and smooth at all gaits.
Good looking, smart and skilled: Starbuck is pleasing to the eye with wonderful conformation, scoring 95 out of 100 on our conformation and athletic ability scale. His willing, steady nature allows his training to advance remarkably fast. He has a solid foundation of grounds skills and well developed saddled skills. We have currently certified him as Saddle 2 – intermediate Saddle. He is an experienced trail horse at home and off site and has many hours in the arena. He is responsive to his rider’s cues and flexes like a dream.
Success-appeal: Cowboy: Confident. Successful. Charming. Adept. In control. Smooth. Sweet talking.Yet, he is not cocky or conceded. If he were a man, he would be Huge Jackson in the film Australia or better yet his horse. He is a leader among his peers through persuasion, tact and example. People fall for him by the way he wins you over…allure.
Takes care of you: Cowboy’s confidence and manner puts you at ease in the saddle to allow you relax and enjoy yourself. He will adjust to a new rider exceptionally fast and has this horse-sense thing to compensate for a less experience rider; he seems to know when he needs to take it up or down. He’s not fearful and remains calm when you need it most. He is practical and steady in his approach. Makes him a good teacher.
He knows how to use it: Cowboy is exceptionally athletic, disciplined, and talented. But most importantly he knows how to use himself to deliver a ride that is remarkably smooth, balanced and satisfying. He has the brains to run the machine to carry himself and his rider well. He knows the difference between his mistake and your mistake, but his confidence means he will not ask forgiveness or look for it.
The Persona Poncho has presence. He is charismatic. He is big, powerful, energetic and flashy. Nature gave him the gift of pretty.
Fun, Exciting, Exhilarating: While Poncho does well on the trail; he also excels in the arena where he can show off his skills.
He is a horse the trainer loves to ride just to blow off steam as his willingness takes the job out of training. The more skilled rider will appreciate the type of ride he gives and will bring you back to those times when riding was exciting and your passion was the highest.
The Softer Side: Poncho has a big personality. He puts on that macho face. He wants to organize his peers. But what will really get you: is the way he buries his head into your chest to ask forgiveness after he screws up.
Your Stage: Poncho puts you on the stage. His slow, collected lope is a dream. His effortless jog is eye catching. His pose is attention-grabbing. He will bring out your beauty and the harmony in your skills. He has all the core skills needed for any discipline and sets the stage to make your performance the way you envision it.
A love for life: The most important thing in the world to Skipa Silver Chick (Sally) is her relationship with you. She wants someone who wants a serious, loving relationship. She likes people and wants to know they like her back. She loves to be taken care of and seeks out your contact. She knows she has a lot to give and will give it willingly for your praise and appreciation.
Willing and fun: Sally will focus her skills and attention on showing you a great time. On the trail she will follow your lead anywhere you want to go; always attentive to your next cue, always giving you her energy to explore what nature has to offer. In the arena, she will do circles all day as long as it makes you happy. She enjoys the repetition of doing something over and over. She is great at all gaits, flexes willingly, agile and is fingertip responsive to the rider’s cues. She has great experience in various settings.
She cares and gives: it back to you Sally is a pleaser that cares about doing what you ask of her and is serious about getting it right so you are happy. She learns quickly with constant feedback and guidance from her rider. She needs an owner that is steady, affectionate and involved in her life. She will give you in return her eagerness, love, and focus her energies and attention on you. She thrives on routine because of the direct feedback it gives to her.
