- I am an equine alternative therapist,currently practising massage therapy, myofascial release, acupressure and Reiki for human and animals...I am also studying iridology for humans and animals, EMRT or Bowen for horses,
and NLP-Neuro Linguistic Programming for riders which is very beneficial for confidence and dealing with issues of any sort as well as fears.I ride dressage, but also have a 2 year old daughter(who loves horses, luckily!) but doesn't allow for as much time riding as I'd like!

Susie Harper said… - I looked into barefoot on my vet's recommendation early 2001 for a pony with laminitis. I began trimming myself by following the website and email instructions from Marjorie Smith http://www.barefoothorse.com lots of links there now to good sites and Peter Rameys articles etc. I also did an online course with Gwen Santagate http://www.barefoottrim.com and http://www.horsecourses.net/ see also http://www.thepenzancehorse.com/
These days I am careful not to cause my arthritis to flare and my farrier comes to check my maintenance every 5 weeks, so I just do a little.
Fascinating subject and it makes the owner so much more responsible and aware, rather than simply delegating this important aspect to the farrier.

I think it is wonderful that people are finally awakening to the possibilities of listening to the horse and allowing the horse to have opinions and become a full partner, rather than a dominated slave.
