Kingsley's New Home And Some Snippets From Today's Teaching

Kingsley all smug in his isolation box in his new home. All horses stay out of the main barn upon arrival so he will move rooms once it has been proven he doesn't carry any nasty viruses ;) He also has to be warmed before being allowed to join new field buddies so no turn out for 48hours. Monday march 1st

:Conditions: Monday night after work. Unable to hack. Ring very busy with beginer lessons. Both horses really light rides - essentially warm up only

Caddymaster: snaffle. Overall very good ride. In the snaffle, he is more apt to put his tongue out. This happens more on the left rein. Today I thought of keeping him really straight on the left rein - almost thinking counterbent in the neck - VERY good idea (again - duh)

A little trick for calming a nervous horse.

We have all been there, you are out at the barn ready to load your horse on the trailer or go for a ride and your horse is wired for sound. They could be fired up for any sort of reason but all you know is your horse is prancing, head held high, jumpy and showing the whites of his eyes. It is obvious your horse is nervous or scared so how do you calm him down so you can handle him in a safe calm manner. I have a trick I use to help settle a nervous horse.
