Update on Kingsley's Barefoot Rehab

Kingsley continues to get better and better! Pauline will visit him this weekend so there will be much more footage to come. For now, the lateral view of his limb placement.

Have a look at Nic's write up about his rehab HERE. She does say that the improvement is much clearer when evaluated on circles and front/back but what I love to see is the proper V in his walk stride where his hind hooves… Continue

Why I have chosen Natural Horse Management.

In this blog I will write briefly about the reasons why I have chosen the Natural Horse Management Model instead of small stalls and paddocks for my herd of seven horses.

I will share this video of my horses home and natural horse management.…

Equine Science: Weekly News and Trivia Question - November 6, 2009

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Equine Science News blog – this week’s been a busy one for research news, so this post will be a quick overview of all the latest topics.

Many owners shoe their horses without a second thought, but ‘barefoot’ is slowly becoming more common place and now the public in the UK are being encouraged to comment on new standards for barefoot trimming. This comes after concerns have been raised about practitioners of ‘equine barefoot care’ (as it… Continue

More on "Ride Bare"

I've blogged about Ride Bare already, but now its almost here! In less than 3 weeks time, Sarah Braithwaite and I are setting off on our biggest riding challenge yet, riding from North Wales to Exmoor, a distance of over 200 miles, and we will be riding for at least 2 weeks, camping or staying at farms along the way.

A couple of weekends ago, Sarah went off to try out the second leg of our ride, and I've put the video of that day up here… Continue

Ride bare!

There is more info about the route, and the horses we will be taking, at www.ridebare.com

2 riders, 2 horses, 260 miles, no shoes :-) If anyone wants to ride with us en route (shod or barefoot) they will be very welcome :-)

More on the book and the ride… Continue

A long way to go, but we'll get there in the end!

Lately I haven't been blogging much.

Had a period where we just tried to figure out how to practice the most effective way for our clinic next Saturday.

Well, to be honest, I am not sure if we will be ready to go there. You see, last Tuesday she had her hooves fixed, and had a huge bacterial infection in them. The barefoot trimmer had to dig a little to make it better, but unfortunately she was sore under her legs the day after. And she still is.…
