Spanish Horses

Henk writes:

More new horses! So much for the quiet country life. I think Lil’s losing her mind. But, hey, she’s the one who has to feed everybody and make sure we get turned out and our stalls get cleaned, so I guess it’s her prerogative. And anyway, at least these last two are only visiting. Good thing, too, or I might have to take matters into my own hands.…

Wild Horse Inmate Program

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is a government organization responsible for numerous things, one of them being to solve problems for the thousands of wild mustangs that roam American land. One of their sponsored programs, the Wild Horse Inmate Program, involves the rehabilitation of inmates using wild horses. The program carefully selects convicted inmates and allows them to train horses as part of their rehabilitation. Once the horses are able to execute a walk, trot and lope under… Continue

It's all about Relationship

One of the things I see missing most when people talk about the horse-human relationship, whether they specifically mention that term or are talking about anything concerning horses and humans, is an understanding of what relationship is really about.  Most of the time, people focus on training a horse to do a certain task – stand still, move, trailer load, change lead, you name it – without recognizing that everything we do with a horse revolves around the relationship we have with our…

I am Mustang, The very last one

I am Mustang, The very last one

The pain is great but then silence

Now, I feel like I am back home

I hear the thundering of a thousand beating hearts

so many, and now me, all sent into the dark

None stampeding as always, as just one

The last mustang from roberta edstrom poems

Dear God, our time as come

I believe, I was the very last one.

The finale mustang to take the last breath

I ask, God, what have they done

Man will not know… Continue

Creation of the Mustang By Janet Hickman

When the Lord was creating mustangs, he was into his sixth day of overtime

An angel appeared and said “You fiddling around on this one”

The Lord asked “Have you read the description on this horse?”

A mustang must be able to trot for miles a day with the herd or carrying a rider that a domestic horse could never hold up too.

They have to be able to move at a nanosecond’s notice and not think twice of the danger their lives are in from predators.

They have to be able to… Continue

Pennies for Ponies

The Calico Mountain mustangs of Nevada inspired the mustang herds in my Phantom Stallion books.

When the Bureau of Land Management decreed a round up of these horses, I joined a lawsuit to stop them. When that failed, I witnessed the deadly winter helicopter round-ups and captivity which has led to over a hundred deaths.

Ghost Dancer and Shell Flower suffered facial and leg injuries, but survived to become friends. Now, the BLM is clearing the corrals of Calico Mountain… Continue

Stop the GENOCIDE on America's Wild Mustangs...we must act together and with poise...

We, as a nation of horse lovers, MUST become a unified VOICE for the Wild Mustangs of our West. They are being illegally rounded up, brutally handled, and many are being shipped to Mexico and Canada for slaughter.

THIS IS ILLEGAL according the 1971 ROAM ACT.

The BLM is taking laws, decisions and these matters into their own hands (no doubt being manipulated by the few, the greedy and the selfish for reasons of cattle/sheep grazing, and the Ruby Oil Pipeline...)

This has to… Continue

Let 'em Run!

Stampeded by helicopters, slammed into metal pens, torn from families when their hearts and heads say safety is with the herd, our wild horses have been robbed of their homelands and forced to stand dull-eyed in pens, awaiting the slaughter that the Bureau of Land Management says will come.

It's going on today. Tomorrow. The next day.

And it's done in my name and yours as if it's the will of the American people, despite the cost, the lack of a clearly stated plan and our continued… Continue

PLEASE help to save Cloud's herd!!! We with voices owe these horses that!

Please help to save Cloud's herd in Montana. Roundups are scheduled.

New born foals get killed, their mothers mamed and they bunch stallions together and then they fight in a bloody mess to the death - dont let this happen! Its senseless - based on corruption and greed from suits who know NOTHING about horses. These horses' ancestors settled this country - they have earned the right in history/legacy to have a range atop some mountains to live in… Continue

Video Insight into Wild Foal Alert

HI,

I should have guessed you'd need more information than I included with the petition! To see facts, copies of legal documents, photos of wild orphans being cared for and, most importantly, an audio tape of a government official threatening Shirley Allen. Shirley is known as the "wild horse angel" for the animals she rescues. You can see the Phantom her house before he was freed at the Sanctuary here:… Continue

Call to Action: Nevada's mustang orphans

Dear Readers,

Nevada's wild horses are in danger NOW.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture has given orders to kill orphan mustangs even though these babies were being nursed back to health in the homes of wild horse "angels".

Several of these foals have already been seized. Their fate is, at best, uncertain.

We're doing what we can to keep attention focused on the NDA now, but you can help too, no… Continue
