Loretta has been sold to a really nice family in Orangeville. She will be bred to Carbadino for 2011 foal. Brando is going to the same family-Courtney is going to be working with Brando preparing him for the show ring.
Very excited for both.

Dublin show at the Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge is the centrepiece and driving force for many in the Irish Equestrian community. It is so dominant in our culture that people just talk about it as ‘the horse show’, despite the fact that there are…

As I have grown up in horses I have noticed something which I think gets by many riders. It combines functionality with human nature and it’s something I have grown to take as gospel but few others speak about.

Chance and I have been training very hard the past couple of weeks, and I feel really prepared. Our lessons have been going great and I think Chance is as excited as I am to represent Region 5 on the Junior Dressage Team! We've worked so hard for this all year long and I'm hoping that it will pay off.…

My little guy put forth a wonderful effort this weekend at the ADA Spring Celebration. All scores above 60% in first level and making great progress in second level! We also pulled the second level high point award! My top hat flew off in 2 of my rides, it was so embarrassing! Happens to the best of us I suppose. We get a well deserved few weeks off until Region 7 Championships for Arabs later this month!

The end of term at school (early of course) saw us making the mahusive trip into the depths of east anglia for Dell’s first Intermediate Novice (IN). Despite gloomy predictions of a long
journey from everyone ., we arrived early! – That one joins my optimistically
short list of “journeys that take half the time Google says they will”....
Dells first intermediate test meant it was also his first test I had…

So as I packed up the horse trailer to go home, I though to myself it had been a great day, could have been better though. But the day did not go as smoothly as id had hoped. First, my mom was unable to drive me to the show so I had to car pool me and my horse with a barn friend. Anyway, my class started at 8 so at the least had to be their at the least 7:30, so i got picked up at 7:00 (supposed to be picked up at 6:30) and we got there at 7:45! Well yes, my first show with Summer I was…

We're finally home! After a long four day weekend my mom, Chance, and I all made it back safely. We had a fabulous weekend! Chance was so well behaved and he acted like a total pro. Unfortunately Teri couldn't make it over to California but another Arizona
horse trainer, Kim Yacabucci, was able to help warm me up on Friday and Saturday. Here's all the details!
We…

Well Loosi's (Bask N Coins) 2009 fantastic season just keeps getting better and better.
While we didn't expect to get any awards other than mileage accomplishments (Mother, Loosi and I all got our 1500 miles) at the OCTRA banquet due to the fact that we spent the majority of the season stateside. We completed only 3 Endurance rides and 1 CTR within OCTRA, well Loosi was 15th Endurance Horse and 19th Overall (combined CTR and END) - wow, guess everyone else had short seasons as well…

Here is a question I get all the time about the riding your freestyle at home vs. riding your freestyle at a show. I thought you might all enjoy it! Ruth
Question:
I have ridden my freestyle a number of times in competition. I have ridden it time and time again perfectly at home and know my music very well.
This is my question. I ride my test perfectly at home but when I get to a venue... I am ALWAYS ahead of the music!!! It's not a big problem because I know…

The warm up is the most crucial part of any competition. It's where the test is won or lost.
Too much warm up and your horse may be dull and less reactive to your aids.
Too little warm up and your horse may be more "exuberant" than you anticipate.
In this weeks installment I've listed exactly what you need to do in order to take the mistery out of the warm up.You never know how your horse will react to new settings until you expose him to them.
Don't wait until…

We all have our vices. Some women collect purses. Some collect shoes. I have a closet full of western show outfits in various colors. For some reason, I have a weakness for them. Maybe because of the Swarovski crystals, the multi-hued material, or because they are related to horses. Either way, I love to spend my money on show clothes. Since there are no local shops that I can buy show clothes from (see About Me), I have bookmarked online websites that I like (and can afford) that sell western…
