Day 5 - the CN International

The very big news today is the CN International. McLain Ward has been wanting to win this class for years and today was his day. He and his amazing mare Sapphire had two clear rounds as did Eric Lamaze on his equally amazing stallion Hickstead. Ward had to go first in the jump-off and had a clean round that was deceptively fast.

Then Lamaze put in a very quick clean round to great cheering, but looking at the clock, everyone suddenly… Continue

Day 4 Afternoon

Well, it's been a very big day at Spruce Meadows. This morning Tim Stockdale's great round in the BP Cup was good enough for second place. Yay Tim!

The Battle of the Breeds

Day 4 AM

Just a quick update:

Our very own Tim Stockdale had a burning fast round in the BP Cup which is a speed class using some of the natural obstacles in the International Ring - the table and a bank. Tim and Fresh Direct Kalico Bay held on to first for quite a while and just got beat by a whisker by Rich Fellers of Wilsonville, Oregon, USA, riding McGuinness. Keep your fingers crossed that none of the last four riders can catch Rich's or Tim's times.

Rich Fellers has a… Continue

Day 2 of Spruce Meadows Masters

I don't have much time to post so I'll just upload some pictures of the exciting competitions:

Will Simpson won the Akita Drilling cup on Black Cherry by taking an inside turn in the jump-off that no-one else tried.

And Jaime Azcarraga of Mexico won the Cana Cup on his gorgeous and talented stallion Presley Boy

Sad News for Tim Stockdale

Spruce Meadows 2009

It's day 2 here at Spruce Meadows for the Masters Tournament, one of the biggest stops on the yearly international show jumping tour.

I'm just getting started updating my blog, so I'll start with the results from day One:

There were two classes in the International Ring on the first day. Eric Lamaze won the Zeidler Financial Cup riding Take-0ff, a 9 year old Dutch… Continue

Season Half Over???

Well we have made it to the half way point of the season. Seems like we just got started - May does not seem so far away when we arrived in Calgary for two weeks of the May Classic tournaments at Spruce Meadows - but alas it is - half over.

I can not remember where we left you last - I believe it was the beginning of June in Blainville and from there I went on to Spruce Meadows for the Summer Series - five weeks of tournaments that highlights some of the best horse and rider combinations… Continue
