Where do I go from here?

The closer I get to the Academy going live the more I ask myself, where do I go from here...I've received some very good feedback from all I shared the drafts of the Programmes with and I'm both anxious and excited at the thought of bringing it all to life and spreading the word. It will take a long time to make it into what I see in my head it could be but I… Continue

Why eventers can't show-jump, training half-steps, napping, shadowing Anna and watching Human Performance in action - week in review

Where were we?

Tweseldown trip was very interesting. The reason I like to go to various events is because I like to… Continue

Academy Road Test Continues and Introducing My New Horsey Project

Photo: Kelly and Tilly on the lesson today.

As this month is very much about road testing the Aspire Equestrian Riding Academy project before its launch, I am trying to use any opportunity and time possible.

I had two girls coming for lessons with me to Cane End Stud and it seemed just perfect an occasion to test… Continue

More News on Academy and Few Words on April Plans

Word of hindsight wisdom - if you're freelance, have a sicky fund ;) Not that I've got one but I would certainly like to have it.

As hard as it is not to be earning I decided to give my illness one more day as I continue having very little voice, jumpy temperature, cough and just generally feeling ill. I worked in similar states before but it always ended… Continue

Educate NOT Instruct, Say As It Is YET Inspire, Support & Direct YET allow the ownership of knowledge - what do riders want from their trainers....?

Seeing I'm ill and spending my day in bed working on the biggest coaching challenge I've ever taken on I might as well share some musings on various teaching related subjects. Lots of waffle below, you've been warned.

In addition to the question in the title, there is another one: what do riding coaches need to deliver?

Creating the Academy project pushed me… Continue

Lungeing Videos From The last 3 Days - Kingsley

Photo above: Kingsley today.
We are to lunge him 20 minutes a day encouraging correct outline and better balance. Problem 1: Kingsley's idea of lungeing is to check how upside down a horse can get and how fast can one run...

Problem 2: He still isn't totally sound

These… Continue

Kingsley: Vet + Physio Reassessment. The First Day Of The Last Go...

Above: Kingsley, still looking sleepy after sedation, in a pulsed electromagnetic rug
It's not good news for the little man. It looks like the rearing wasn't just him being naughty...He is in a lot of pain along entire topline, poll, neck, back and sacroiliac area. His back muscles… Continue

Nineteen Days and Counting - Catch Up With The Busy Week

To my amazement my good old self keeps going quite fine on my new regime. It's my nineteen day of work on the trot with no day off and I am not horizontal as yet ;)

There is a special thank you involved here to the person who took the trouble to dig out, package and sell genuine dead sea salt...my muscles are very much eternally grateful. You know when they say regarding training science that you've got to destroy muscle tissue to build a new, stronger one...Well, my muscle fibres are… Continue

Spring is here! Colour Green Didin't Extinct!

Even if it's just for today! Plus 10C, wonderful sunshine, green grass and a

happy horse = lovely day. Kingsley was allowed out in a separate

paddock today which was great considering the day was so beautiful.

There were horses in adjacent fields so he still had company and he

seemed happy about it. The fields at the new yard are in… Continue

Kingsley's New Home And Some Snippets From Today's Teaching

Kingsley all smug in his isolation box in his new home. All horses stay out of the main barn upon arrival so he will move rooms once it has been proven he doesn't carry any nasty viruses ;) He also has to be warmed before being allowed to join new field buddies so no turn out for 48hours. I am going to see him tomorrow and ride him if he seems settled reasonably well. We haven't ridden him for the last couple of days as were awaiting decision from our… Continue

Fancy a WHERE IS THE LAMENESS IN THIS HORSE Challenge? Videos of Kingsley Spt 09 and Today.

Due to recent set back with Kingsley I've decided to video him and post it on here for all you out there who read and maybe would want to share their opinions. Please do let me know what you think. We are trying to fix him but the truth is that even vets don't quite know what's the problem. Officially, he is being treated for SI strain and serious muscular… Continue

Photo Update on Kingsley's hematoma

Pic. Turn out today. Waiting to come in. "Bored now!"
Kingsley is recovering slowly from his latest trauma. I decided against riding him today just in case but the hematoma is almost fully gone from the girth area. There is still some thickening to the muscles but the vet said it might feel like that for a long time if not… Continue

The weather, bibs, gloves, Equine Dental Technician and a cup of tea

Pic.above: Thanks to uncooperative nature of my Mobile's camera I have actually managed to take this rather interesting photograph. It was taken on my today's hack. Poor woodlands, soaked.

Freelance Coaching vs Severe Wheather...Winter Worries.

It looks stunning doesn't it. And yet, it is also killing my livelihood.

Get Good - wafflings on plans for the future

This is what Rick and I watched at midnight, albeit from a comfortable spot in Hyde Park, a nice distance away from all the shouting...

I couldn't help to think whilst watching the cheerful lightning that I would love to put all that fireworked money into my horsey business...;))

Either way, 2010 is here.

Afresh...bring on 2010

Christmas days are not easy for me, being away from my family takes its toll at this time of year. However, I can safely say the 2009 was good for me and I spent a lovely few days with Rick and his family in Cheshire who made me feel very welcomed. Lots of delicious food and probably a stone more later I am back in London and it's days away from New Year...
