A plea from Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue in Florida
There are two Florida Thoroughbreds that are about to slip through the
cracks. They are at risk of going to slaughter on Wednesday March 17th. PTHR is raising
money for their bail. The horses are in Maine - there was a recent article in
the Boston Globe regarding this place.

The horses will be held until the morning; both horses are from Florida. One has not raced, she is a daughter of Siphon and the other raced at
Calder in July.

Update: THE MARES ARE PAID FOR AND SAFE. THEY ARE OFFICIALLY OWNED BY PURE THOUGHTS INC. PAID FOR IN FULL WITH CC. In addition, there is an 8 year old TB gelding that is safe as well. Tomorrow morning they will be picked up and transported to New England Equine Clinic, we have given them our cc as well. One of the mares is sick so they all will be put into isolation stalls until they have been examined and determine not contagious. The cost for the isolation accommodations are $100 per horse per night. If they can be transferred into the regular stalls the price goes down to $62.50 per night. They will receive an examination and their health certs for transport will be done there as well. Next week they will begin their transport to Florida, until then they will remain at the clinic. The vet bill will be anywhere from $1000 to $1500.
