I had to pull a couple of lame horses out of lessons today which didn't seem very well welcomed by the school's owner. Considering there is only a few horses to play with, the team on the yard had rather difficult task to keep everything ticking somewhat. On top of that, the weather is wrecking the arenas, we were had to use the small one and couldn't do much at all.
It's hard to find an economically viable solution to so many problems that need resolving...for now, I am in it for those smiles:

We're having arena problems here too. Please be careful. A couple of weeks ago I went riding in what I thought was a dry enough turf arena. There was still enough moisture under the surface to cause my horse to lose his footing and we both ended up on the ground. I looks like you've got a swell bunch there. Best of luck to you all!

Thank you for your advice. I only teach at this particular yard once a week so don't have much influence on what is being done with the horses for other 6 days but we do try our best to be as horse friendly as possible and my clients are a fantastic bunch of people.
Arena problem...apparently it is something to do with the water level underneath the arena, there used to be a lake there I am told! I have no say in this matter at all but will suggest digging the soak. I've just added a photo of the arena as it looked on Sunday morning.

Thank you again for the comment.

Do things well in terms of getting your clients to have good balanced rising trots and gentle hands...avoid sitting trot and keep the quality of the work if at all possible...then your horses will improve and your clients will improve and the income will increase...get someone to face up to the arena problem...dig a soak away on the outside of the arena...good luck...William
