HOOF PRINTS ON MY HEART
By Mitzy Tait-Zeller
Softcover $19.99 or Hardcover $29.99 398 pages
Hoof Prints on My Heart is a heartwarming recollection of author Mitzy Tait-Zeller’s experiences with horses over the past thirty-two years, suitable for readers of all ages. Her horse encounters shared with family and friends are fondly remembered, often in a humorous light, and the book chronicles Mitzy’s lifelong love affair with horses that started at age two when she would watch horse movies on TV with her mum. No doll’s tea parties for Mitzy – it was all about horses! Readers are treated to an insider’s look at rural Canadian farm life, foaling, training, breeding and the inevitable loss of treasured 4-legged friends, all told in a compassionate tone and with a warm sense of the absurd.
On a more personal note, the author contributes a great deal of time and energy rescuing and rehabilitating horses that others abandoned, including those who have been scheduled for euthanization. As part of her animal welfare work Mitzy has served on her local SPCA board and has made equine welfare an important component of teaching others on a one-on-one basis. These continuing efforts to effectively raise awareness of equine welfare led to Mitzy being awarded the 2013 Equine Welfare Award for Communication by the
Saskatchewan Horse Federation and Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan.
From a young horse-mad girl to the equine professional she has now become, Hoof Prints on My Heart recalls the humor, the heartbreak and the obstacles Mitzy has encountered as her dreams and goals have evolved. So mount up and ride with the author on the backs of all the horses who have left hoof prints on her heart.
