The video community for horse people everywhere

Baileykins has been getting worse with arthritis for months now and this past week was the worst. She was no longer able to walk downstairs or get off the couch and I had to carry her back from her walks. She would scream when ever she turned to quick and limped and waddled like a penguin for quite some time. She was a white toy poodle and almost 11 years old. She'd been sick with addisons since she was 2 and the doctors only gave her till maybe 5 to live. I know she's had a good life. She's been one of the most expensive dogs I've ever owned but she was worth every penny. (I actually don't know how the vet is going to make their bills without our contributions. They always commented on how large her file was compared to the rest. That was her 2nd file they saw.)

I finally bit the bullet and decided to have her put down on Friday. It was a very hard decision and I'm still not feeling good about it. I know it was the best thing for her but it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. She was my child in many ways and I still look for her wagging tail when I come in the door.

Miss you Baileykins :(

Hi jennifer, I'm doing much better today. Still given to bouts of tears but am looking forward to having her back home tomorrow (I had her cremated) . I'll feel more at peace. I know that sounds awful...It's a personal choice. I was there when she was put down and just feel so bad about it. I know it was the right thing to do. Still doesn't get much easier. Thanks so much for your support. It means alot to know that I'm not alone with how I'm feeling. I look forward to seeing your photo if you get a chance to upload it. I always enjoy pet pics. I'm sorry to hear about your dog Mavy as well. I definately know what your talking about. I believe in them coming back to us as well. My sister and I had a miniature Poodle as kids named Mitzi and she had alot of the same characteristics. I was looking at dog ads today and just can't bring myself to take on another heart full of love yet. This is the first time in 19 years that I haven't had a house pet. Feels weird and lonely. I'm glad I still have my horse Treasure though as he definately fills some of that gap. Do you have many horses as well?

This is Mavy doing his Tom Brady impression. I cried for him every day for 6 months.... just leaking a little here and there... I missed him so much.... their ending circumstances have so much to do with it too... I can't go there right now.. but this is him. :) He's looking for your girl.... he might be back already in our new dog, who acts alot like him though... so I'm not sure, LOL... here is was when I knew him.

Thanks for your support Ruth and Jennifer. I've had to put my 2 cats down at different times but this was the hardest. I'm feeling a bit better about it today after some serious prayers. I'm sure she's up there causing havoc like normal and I hope she finds Maverick as he sounds like the type of dog she'd of loved to have fun with. hugs, Bev

oh I am so sorry..... :( I am sure you miss her in varying degrees each day.... hugs to you... she is hopefully playing with my sheltie, maverick who died when he was 7 and had been sick since he was 2... maybe they will find each other and swap stories. Hugs.... Jen
