September 1st, the past 130 years - September 1st is the last day of the breeding season for
the Norwegian Døle horses. In Norway
the mares are allowed to range with studs from June 15th through September 1st.
The studs are chosen by the owner and the mares are bred in the pastures during
these four months. Often the mares foal in the mountain pastures, but the studs
defend the herd from any predators.
