Hey Jan!
I was just thinking about you the other day and your excellent advise on lead changes!
Yes, been off the group and on FB lots.
Hope all is well! I see the mare is progressing fabulously! Congrat!!!
How wonderful! This is an accomplishment that speaks to your ability as a coach, horse-person and empathic being. Let me know where and when your article will be published so I can read it.
I think that the show is an excellent idea. The only think that could prevent me from attending is a client meltdown. I'm a psychotherapist and haven't been able to find anyone to cover for me when I leave town. So far every one has been relatively low risk or easily manageable. I am getting to the point where I would like to do some traveling in the cold weather, possibly look for a winter home down south a bit. I guess it's time to address the constraints my practice presents.
Thanks for the tip about Greenhawk tack. The blankets look great. I bought Dee a Weather Beeta this year and it is already filled with holes. Next year he's getting one the those bulletproff 1600D Shedrow blankets.
Great to have you back.

Hi Jan,
Go short people! Me too, I'm 5'11/2 and shrinking, I may have less leg surface to work with but I'm probably also a lot less tolerant of a nappy horse. I just don't have those great legs to nag with.
What do you think of the idea of suggesting a Dressage Fan/Barn Mice gathering at one of the big shows? We could pick a time and all meet for lunch or dinner. The assumption is that a lot of us would be going to the shows anyhow. Laura
That does sound amazing, sorry :)! Someday...my husband and I are looking around at some properties near us, just to see what is available, and for what price, but we won't be ready to buy for a while. It's fun to dream about it though!
I was looking at your pictures and it looks like a fantastic view to wake up to everyday..:)
I know an old roomate of Krys's, and through long-distance phone calls we became friends! She was on her way to Southern Ontario one time to see her girls, and stopped in for a visit with me in Sault Ste. Marie. We've exchanged emails, facebooks, cards, pics and such ever since! And yes, she is terrific..:)
The weather out here is wet! Puts a damper on my barn visits, but definitely doesn't stop me. How many horses do you have? Krys said you had the most amazing barn..:)
Thank you very much for your advice Jan! Gryphon was so kindly loaned to me after the passing of my Arabian- to keep me riding & I just love him, but I do realize that it will take time to adapt and I have so much yet to learn!
Hi Jan. Wow, small world! I am living in Princeton now, helping a friend who runs a rescue, doing some teaching and judging. Say hi to your mom. Do you have any Utube videos? D
Yes Jan, I am young and new to dressage. The "thick hide" and "can't feel you" are comments made by my coaches (one a judge). I am physically pretty fit with 4 days a week synchronized swimming. Other than my personal fitness, do you have any other suggestions I can try?
Jan, Were you in Kelowna? I was actively involved in Cadora with your mom I think back in the late 70's, early 80's. I was area rep when we were bringing in Charles??? (I was Darla Menzel).
Thanks Jan for taking the time to respond. That is really good advice. You confirmed a few things that I suspected. I agree that there are many excellent coaches out there that have not necessarily gone through the process.
I rode in -20 last night but -37 this morning in the central interior of BC. Too cold even for me.
Hola adviser friends,
Some updates about my "horse-weight" situation here.
I have talked to Ken (from co-op) today and he was very kind and patient, very interested into my situation. He will look at my pictures this week-end. Thank you so much fo…
Well...it all depends on what you want to do with the horse. Show it lower level at local shows? 3rd or 4th level at regional shows? FEI level at national shows?
