Hi

I see some of your pics of stbs.  I have stbs. Do you race or were these pics you took for a project?  I recognize Flamboro on the exit going out to the track of the one pic.

Hi Amanda!
Welcome to the Toronto CADORA group on Barnmice!

she is maturing so fast - looks more like a horse than a foal every day!! She still enjoys the baby tendencies, like roaring round the fence line in the deep snow at 100mph!!!! At least it burns excess energy!

Hi Amanda,
I just want to tell you that I asked for that groundworking and I CAN DO IT! I am sooooo happy. Today was first day of trying and I think it was good. I do it with one of our school pony - his name is Cinnabun (Cinny) and I think it will be really funny to work with him. :-)

Hi Amanda

Thank you!!! I'm really glad that yesterday I participated in the clinic with Frank Grelo. It was only because you encouraged to do so that I did. He is such a great man! I was quite nervous but he made me laugh and smile the whole time. He wanted to know what I wanted to work on and I told him I wanted to work on my aids to better direct the horse. Which we worked on for a bit and then he decided I should canter to get a better seat/position I think..I'm not really sure why but we did. I have cantered twice since I've come back to riding...I was very scared as couple of weeks ago my Friesian friend stumbled and I landed on his neck. I have been shaken ever since. Anyways, Mr. Grelo made a rein with the lunge line and he was controlling my large friend from the ground. He does not like to canter on the left and bucked a bit which made me even more scared. So now we were working on my fear which I didn't realise was so GREAT until I had no control and was cantering in a circle. Mr. Grelo kept making jokes and finally I loosened up. He is such an excellent trainer because I think he keeps everything very light and yet he can pinpoint exactly what the problem is and deals with it immediately. His intuition is amazing. He told me that he could tell that I really wanted to but my fear was keeping me from it. I would really love to be able to work with him again but he is so far away. Hopefully he'll have another clinic close by or not that close by and I will definitely participate again.

Thank you once again for your words of encouragement.

Yeah, I'm very excited! I think it will be easier for me to train this foal because of the horses I trained before. I'm going to ask Simone if I can try groundwork with one of her school horse. But I think I will not be successfull. But I want to try it. The foal will be from mare Veracruz which I rode....that dark bay mare with which I do groundwork and stallion Werbespot http://www.sportpferde-schmidt.de/en/index.php?seite=hengste&sub=werbespot .

I'm not studying for any certificate, just working and sometimes riding. But there is a lot of nice people. Last week I was with Simone in Blainville for five days. There was large competition and she was very good. I'm looking forward for my future foal which is now 92 days old and will born around 27th February 2010 so maybe I will go back to home in February to be with my foal for all the time.

Hi Amanda,
how are you? How it's going with that 5yo horse? I'm still at Queenswood and hope my English is a little better. Here is a lot of work in stable and not so much riding. But I think it needs a time. I'm a little disappointed that they are not doing any groundwork with horses except lunging. But I think it's normal in stables like this is.
So have a good day.

HI Amanda

I see you are into Standardbreds. I am a guardian for Standarbred horses out in Halton. I think they are great horses. I really like their temperament.

Hi Amanda,

That's a great idea!!! I will definitely get it taped and I will be able to get a clearer picture of what I need to improve on and how his sugestions help. With the notebook I will also be able to get a clearer idea of my progress. I will let you know how it goes.

The big boy in the picture is a Friesian. I don't know exactly how tall he is but he's huge!! Unfortunately, he's not mine. I ride him for my lessons and will certainly ride him for the clinic. I will be posting more pictures soon.

Thank you again and have a great day!

Hi Kelly,
I am so glad you decided to attend the clinic. I , unfortunately won't be able to go. I have to work and teach. I live in Stouffville (north of Toronto) and it would be a little too far afield for the moment. :( ..You must let me know how it goes, what you learn etc .It would be great to have someone videotape you (if it'a allowed) , take photos and take notes. Keep a "Clinic Journal"..use a lined paper book. I am sure you will go to many more. Ask the clinician if they are able to make a few notes about things for you to work on at home etc. They are usually happy to. You will have sooo nuch fun!!!! Cheers Amanda

Hi Amanda,

My name is Kelly and I am new to Barnmice. As I was looking at some of the group discussions, I stumbled upon your comment on Baroque Horses in which you mentioned that you rode with Frank Grelo. He will be giving a clinique at the stables I currently ride at the end of the month. I am new to Dressage and I am still very "green". I was wondering if you thought that it would be worth it for me to take part in the clinic even though I am terribly new to Dressage? I mean in the sense that I don't have much experience and I wouldn't want to seem like I was wasting his time. I also don't want to miss such a great opportunity.
Thank you very much for your advice.
