Hello Gail,
I have a year and a half till I can rightfully join the over 60's group. Oh, what I hope to learn in that time! So much to learn...not enough time.
In reading your comment from today I noticed two things...you are brave enough to venture out alone and you must have an excellent way with your horse that he will go out with you as his only companion away from his horsie herd. I love this. My guy comes to the gate as soon as I get to the barn most days and he doesn't pay any attention to his horsie herd at all when I'm there unless there is a big ruckous that concerns his natural instincts. Even then if I remain calm so does he.
I got my horse at age 53 when he was 3 and that was 5 years ago. Little did I know how much this was going to change my life. I knew it would fulfill a longtime passion but the paths and different doors opening have been amazing to me. How exciting!
Keep on those trails!
I wish to invite you to join the "Handicapped and Disabled Riders" group. We can help each other and celebrate our achievements, however small they may appear to others.
Hi Gail......I have just bought and love the RidersRasp for keeping my horses feet in better shape between trims....It's easy and you can't rasp your own skin off !!!!! Cheers
Hey Gail, how are you. Thanks for checking out Hoof Talk. I'm really looking forward to working on the series and I love your suggestion. I usually give my clients one of my used hoof rasps. They still have some bite in them but ;not enough edge to cut your hands. Simmonds, Nicholson, Save Edge and Bilotta all make great farrier rasps but mine are free.
Gai; I look forward to meeting you in Septembe or before. I was at Siverfox in Ashburn before this but only because i part boarded there -Trick who belongs to Cheryl Lewis, then i purchased a green thoroughbred. I am a retread - I didn't ride for 20 years and went back to it in my 50's. I am still pretty green. Lad is my horses turn out buddy -I own Spud, an ugly name for a pretty boy, but he came with it. Talk to you soon.
Hi Gail -Are you by any chance moving back to Ridgeview Farm near Port Perry? I just moved into that barn and have heard so much about you. My second question is did you ride at The Three Hussars Stable way way back in the 1960's? I hear you have a Rocky Mountain horse (my other favorite breed. I look forward to meeting you!
...... just wanted to take a minute to say ....

Hi Gail,
We don't have a set time to go hacking in the next few weeks. Seems to always be a bit spontaneous right now. I'll email you if we know for sure we're heading out for a hack.

I would really like to hear from Barnmice members who would like to hack around the Newmarket, Uxbridge area weekdays or weekends. I have a 2 horse trailer but noone in particular to partner up with and would enjoy that. Safe and respectful hackers only please!
