Hi again. There are some great resources describing the connection between the two breeds. There is an article linked on the web-page that I gave below and it has some references in it as well. I rode a Morgan mare when I was little and some aspects of my current horse's personality (and appearance) remind me of her. I do love Canadians - they are quite fun and handsome horses. :)

Hi! I noticed comments in your 'Fans of the Morgan Horse' group that discussed the breeds that went into the development of the Morgan Horse. If this is a topic that interests you, you may want to look into the relationship between Canadian Horses and Morgans. A number of Canadian Horse mares went into the early development of the Morgan breed. DNA comparison has shown the two breeds to be closely related, and if one looks at horses of each breed, strong similarities can be seen:

Oh you are both too kind, but thank you! I have a very natural seat, trainers have told me, I suppose I agre since riding is like walikng to me, but I would'nt call myself much beyond an average rider. I actually feel that most of my riding career is still ahead of me. I mean I guess I'm a good Jumper, but I dont currently have a horse that jumps more than 3.5 - 4 ft. (I have a 5 yo and 4 yo just about ready to start jumping over 2 ft , If I was awesome I would show more, and show off my horses more. My riding/training successes have mostly been at home.

Anyways I dont know if you saw the pics of my foals but I posted two of LOBA and one of SILVER
I tried to upload 10, but only those 3 went through, the others said there was an error.

Later this morning I'm going to take FERDINAND, my 4 yo Stallion out for some exercise & will be posting pictures afterward.

See you in a while girls!

There are only 3 Dunskins in my whole slide show, And my Dunskin Mare is'nt on there. The one labeled "Dun + Creme" is so perfect.

I've accumulated a huge collection of examples of the two dilutions, but I find it hard to come by Dunskin (BuckskinDun), Dunalino, And Grullos with one addittional modifier (like creme or chmpagne).

I had started creating Albums for my horses seperately (3 grullos, a dunskin, a bay and a chestnut, But I took them all down last week. I'm going to put them back soon (that was a waste of upload time)

TJ has his own small pasture right now, like a few others, and last week he got a new fence buddy next door, a gelding. When I went to get Tj, and he came up to me, he pushed the other horses head away from between the fence railing, cuz he wanted all the attention! spoiled boy!

So do you think I should get a hold of the Ginneys World Record people and have them come out and document him, hey and then we can get sponsors and travel around to all the fairs, horse shows, feed stores, etc in style. We will call it the BFF Sista traveling circus. Ha-Ha

Hi Marti,
In Train with Jane-Volume 1 and in A Happy Horse Home Study course, I go over a suppling exercise that I call "The Valium Exercise". It loosens the horse's muscles and relaxes the mind.
Best,
Jane

No Marti, I do not ride a Harley or any of its little brothers. lol I think I said "we is friends" in response to the invitation window that popped up on my computer. I did not mean to give anyone the impression that could balance my self on two wheels, why flying down the highway at 80 miles an hour and still be able to walk and talk what I got off the Hog. Nope not me, give me a 1000lb beast that has a mind of its own, and could throw me on the ground and stomp on me when ever he damned well felt like it. lol Give me a four legged eating machine that never stops thinking of his stomach, and eats regardless if he is being used or not. LOL

Hi Marti,
I own 3 registered Morgans right now,2 were bred and raised here,(Tango and Durango) 1 is "a momentary lapse of sanity" purchase I made this spring.(Moonshine)
I also own a registered T.B mare(Miss Twiggy) who is working with Kristen, she is a student mentoring with me here .There is also a morgan quarter horse X "rescue horse "(Jessper) that literally jumped into my horse trailer last Dec. when I was at a farm that buys and sells horses for slaughter..and she refused to get out...so I guess she pretty much picked me..As I sold my trusted lesson mare this spring..this one is training up beautifully to supercede my previous lesson mare- I plan on showing her in Western pleasure green classes this fall-we were working on our 2 tracking and haunches in this afternoon and man ,this little girl has got talent-not bad for a $200.00 abuse case destined for the slaughterhouse!!I
There is also have a warmblood 3- year old coming in for training with me this week as well as a quarter horse arab X mare that is boarding/training with us for the summer. We have Trixie and Rosie the mini Sicilian donkeys who work with the very young students to give them confidence in safe handling and grooming etc before we let them graduate to a larger horse...(great excuse to keep a donkey,eh??-poor Downtrodden Horse Husband believed the excuse- or lets on that he believes it-I have always had a thing for mini donkeys...the goal is 2 sell a couple more of my own horses-I think the TB and 1 of my morgan geldings and go look for 2 really good quality foundation mares or fillies and maintain a good breeding program.I am feeling quite proud of myself- I have downsized from 16 horses down to 5 of my own in the past 2 years- and I will go to exclusively morgan or part bred Morgan stock. So that's what eats the hay in at our place, speaking of which, we have just knocked our 2nd cut of hay down, and will probably be baling by Friday...we grow almost all our own hay...
At work,so best get back to official ambulance business- have a great day-Karan

we have quite large horse communities here especially thoroughbred racing. It's one of the largest industries by employment numbers, from Stud Farms to actual Racing. We also have a significant increase in Warmblood breeding to supply good quality competition horses.
