Cash's leg healed fine but it did take about 6 weeks to seem really normal.

Hi Cheryl! Cash is coming out of the winter looking good. The vet said last week that she thinks Cash is a little heavy. She made this statement as she felt under his winter blanket and was feeling his ribs. I'm happy to see him looking so fit coming out of the winter.
Our riding is going better. I find if I play music in the arena that it relaxes both of us and he's much less spooky. I also have another instuctor. She is a Parelli instructor for 1 Star level which means she's certified as an instructor for the ground work. But she knows a lot about the riding program and is teaching me some of the patterns/ One of the biggest things that Cash and I need is to keep focused on what we are doing and that keeps me more relaxed.
I hope things are going well for you too.

Thanks for the welcome Cheryl! You'll love the Nelson area. I have recently opened a Greenhawk store in Nelson so stop by and introduce yourself. It's also a great place to meet others in the horse community!

Oh Cheryl! What a great story about the seeming mistake in your mare getting pregnant unplanned. Sometimes the best of things come about in such mysterious ways. Very cool!

Thanks so much Cheryl! Equine photography is certainly a passion of mine that I would love to turn into a career one day. Was browsing through your profile and the name Fawn Anderson caught my eye - I'm a big fan of her! Have audited and participated in her clinics here in London, ON with the therapeutic riding horses I work with. Jet is certainly a looker, and so is your property! Is that the facility you mention in your About Me? My friend and I are looking for Parelli-focused centers to stay at perhaps once our degrees our finished; it's nice to get a better view of varying facilities and what they offer while we're still in school.

Thanks Cheryl, No abscess surfaced. I was a little disturbed by the fact that the receptionist at the vet service determined it was an abscess problem as soon as I said he was lame. I said I didn't know if that was the issue but when the vet got there that seemed to be the diagnosis. The farrier did not agree from day one. Nor did the barn manager. The vet used some hoof tool to press on the hoof to find the painful area but then said it wasn't showing much pain but a little in this one spot. I wasn't feeling very confident about the diagnosis and called my ferrier. Things are much improved with hosing, rubbing alcohol, epsom salt, poutice pads and standing wraps. We lunged at a walk tonight with very little trot and I couldn't see that he was off. We'll take it easy a few days so we can be sure he's good to go. He's sure not liking being in his stall and then in a lone little dry pasture. He keeps telling me how irritated he is with his ears. He is quite expressive but seems to have no intent to be mean. I'm careful when he gets in this mood just in case and i'll be looking for any more hints that something else is causing him discomfort. I'm trying to be a tuned in mum.without. I've been hearing of lots of abscesses here too but fortunately Cash is so far abscess-free.

I am a little stressed and anxioius and excited at the same time as I'm prepping for a trip to go to the Parelli Celebration in Lakeland Florida.
I felt a little eased as I read your note and took a moment to peak at your pictures. It appears you have a great life and are 'doing it!' as Nike would say, "Just do it". I will share my experience of the celebration when I get home. I'm trying to squeeze some quality time in with my horse today. I always have a hard time going away and leaving him behind. But this trip will benefit us both and I suspect he might enjoy just being with the horses for a few days. But he does always come to me when I get to the barn so he does seem to like spending time with me too. It helps to know there is a good group of people keeping an eye on him at my boarding barn.
Take care and enjoy! It'll seem strange not to talk to my Barnmice friends. Maybe I'll find a usable comp at one of the hotels.

Your boy is beautiful! I wish I was closer too, I wish that there were places close to me to go for training. Most seem to be hours away and it`s hard to get to when you don`t have a truck and trailer to get to them. I have Jonathan`s dvd set that I use with my gelding. I have been jumping back and forth between his and Parelli. I was just at the site viewing that video with Jonathan explaining how to use them. I never watched it before. I was watching them one after another and he says to watch 1 ground and 1 riding, 2 ground and 2 riding and so on and also watch 5. I am not riding my boy yet, I really don`t think he is ready physically yet. Although he did just turn 3, but I might wait until next year, with more ground training and hopefullyhe has developed and grown some more.

How did I miss that?! You are a Parelli fan!! I love them and their work.
I was at a training barn for 3 and a half years right after I got my horse. It was not a Parelli training barn but they were good and fair with the horses. I learned a lot there. Pat and Linda added a different view of things that spoke to my passion for horses. You called it 'centered' I've used the term, "Sooths my soul" And I like soothing their soul too whenever possible.
Do you have a flyer/mailer for your clinic in August?
I am planning on going to the 'Celebration' in Florida in October.
